Economic freedom and the Socialism policy

Postby Maxima Virtus » Mon Feb 08, 2021 2:56 am

Some of my objectives for this nation are to reach the Iron Fist Comsumerists category (I'm currently a Moralistic Democracy) and also to have the Socialism policy. My problem is that to be IFC you must have a moderate amount of economic freedom, but (I think?) getting the Socialism policy automatically tanks that stat to zero or even below it.

That happening to my nation would make it a Psychotic Dictatorship, and to become IFC I'd then have to increase economic freedom, but, as already said, I want to keep the Socialism policy as well.

So, to make my point clear, my question is the following: are there ways to increase your economic freedom while staying socialist? Are there issues that contemplate this option?

The socialism policy adds a blanket -100 penalty to your nations economic freedom but the game ignores that penalty when it comes to your WA category.

Case in point, look at my puppet K-poptopia, that nation has the socialism policy and an economic freedom score of -55.11, but since the game is ignoring the -100 penalty applied to that, it treats that account as if it has a medium economic freedom score of 44.89, which is within the medium range and therefore classifies that nation as Iron Fist Consumerists.

Just out of curiosity, why do you want this combination? What motivation do you have for wanting it solely based on the names of the categories, if you don't understand the mechanics behind how they work?

Anyway, Gandoor is correct. Just make sure your economic freedom score ends up between -67 and -33, inclusive.

Understood, thanks a lot.

Purely for aesthetics/worldbuilding reasons.
