I categorically dislike "let's do this reasonable thing, and also this other less reasonable thing that isn't logically connected but that's forced in just to make the option less appealing" options, and do in fact always dismiss this issue for that reason.

I had this issue lately and picket the second option which was fine, However, the first option should not really be applicable to my nation since computers are banned, which kind of limits the choices.
So if you decide to revise the Issue this could also be a thing that could be addressed, to have different texts for No Computer nations (which could result in a policy change) and the option that is there already for Yes Computer nations?
Just an idea if you are revising the issue anyway

Eh, phones aren't really considered "computers" by NationStates. I know, a little bit of an odd specificity,
but remember that not all phones, or even cell phones for that matter, are smartphones. :P

Oh I'm sorry for bringing it up then on this issue.
Thank you for reminding me, I seriously forgot about non-smartphone residence phones etc.
I feel very silly, and now I have more options on issues mentioning phones

Lol it's fine, I think most people with a smart phone these days forgets other phones exist.
I only remember because I had a flip phone on me until one and a half years ago, and my brother still has one.

I wonder why people are still calling them "phones" when it's been a long time since their primary purpose was phoning people.

Same reason we call our email things mailboxes.

You obviously haven't seen "Good Guy With a Gun" and the "religious fundamentalist doesn't want to bake a cake" Issues yet. Those are the two worst ones.

Good Guy With A Gun is actually a pretty funny issue. Tragic, but funnily...presented. Also, which one is the last one?

Digital mailboxes may not literally be shaped like boxes, or anything else given that they don't have a physical form at all, but they do at least figuratively serve the same purpose as actual mailboxes.

Smartphones only sporadically serve the same purpose as actual phones. Even if you count other forms of communication like texting as still fitting the theme of phones, that's still only a minority of the many tasks they actually get used for.

I do have a mild gripe about the presentation of the options in that issue (which I mentioned in the original draft thread but was ignored), but the options themselves are good and seem like they cover the subject well.

Of course, the issue is only assigned to nations that have a particular fairly radical policy already, so the options that seem reasonable by their point of view aren't necessarily the ones that are so by the standards of a more average nation.
