A List of Characters and Companies in Issues

Postby Westinor » Mon Jul 13, 2020 12:23 pm

I've compiled a list of characters with unique names, as well as companies in all currently published issues. Inspired by this post.

Current Update - Up to Issue #1417

A few things to note:

Religious characters and organizations are not present, due to the existence of another list that compiles most of those.

Please note that due to the process in which this list was written(manually reading through every issue for hours on end) there are likely several omissions and errors. I'm also fairly inconsistent in the characters I note and don't note, as well as the groups they are put in. If you find an error, omission, or inconsistency, please point it out and I'll gladly fix it! Thanks!

This is currently a WIP, and I'll be continuously sprucing up the quality of this list. I'll continue to update descriptions and issue numbers, and suggestions on descriptions would be helpful too.

Finally, there are spoilers within the descriptions of some characters, particularly those within issue chains, so be warned.

Here we go!

Characters

Recurring and Grouped Characters

Doctor Bees - an eccentric character with an obsession with bees, who walks around clad in a bee costume. First appears in Issue #441 - You've Got A Friend In Bee. Sometimes shows up with ‘The Bird Lady’.

Edward Rump - a wealthy businessman and tourist tycoon, who is generally insensitive and tends to repeat phrases for emphasis. First appears in Issue #457 - Colossus With Feet Of Clay, in which he advocates for the constructions of a monumental tourist attraction. Qraft(CEO:The Big Cheese) - #899
Surreal Estates - #901
Tasers’n’Lasers - #902
The OneClickDeath Corporation(CEO:Victor Reno) - #902: A darkweb company asking for legalization of contract killing, which would enable them to move to the lightweb and openly advertise their services. The business model appears to be a combination of microstransactions and user-created storefronts. They also offer a @@LEADER@@ the creation of a small "no hit list". The socialist variant (OneClickDeath Industries) seems to be more motivated by removing capitalist targets, administered by a government list in exchange for political power.
Cycology Degrees - #907: Seemingly a play on the word "psychology", this enterprise has nothing to do with the field. Instead, they are a company responsible for a bike sharing service, which has brought up complaints of unruly and inconsiderate users. They ask for government assistance in punishing users responsible for stealing or damaging their loaned bikes.
Funtendo - #916: Described as a gaming giant, this company seems to be a parody of Nintendo. For some reason, they take interest in the purchase of a failed baseball team by the name of the @@ANIMALPLURAL@@, promising to convert them into a powerhouse, provided they are allowed to show advertisements within the stadium. They also hint at their general discontent for the way in which the nation is managed.
Adz4U(CEO:Eobard Howell) - #947: An advertising company that shares a similar name to Nukes4U, they come under fire for playing intrusive and potentially misleading noises over the car radio, such as sirens, screams, and tires. They have a quartet of vuvuzela players.
Webber Group - #960: A private corporation that pitches their secret force of highly trained intelligence agents after @@NAME@@’s agents are caught in Blackacre. The CEO hints that many of their agents have had prior military experience, and can do anything from basic espionage to assassinations.
N’Ever Fresh - #962: A supermarket chain who had a sale on gluten free products, and quickly sold out of them. A baguette is described as “slightly stale” matching with the name “Never Fresh”.
Digital Thought(CEO:Garissac Kasparasimov) - #982: A tech company who asks Leader for support in creating a chess-based AI. The CEO is notable for continuously insulting Leader’s intelligence.
Fizer-Updick - #993: A pharmaceuticals company in the early trials of a bone cancer treatment, who wants the government to cut out red tape so that they can sell their drugs right away. This company appears to have a legal team watching every word they put out to avoid liability.
Burpbarry - #995: Presumably a luxury clothing company catered towards hunters, since it is being worn by a hunter suggesting peasant hunting licenses.
Bounce Industries(Blackacre-owned) - #1005: A company pitching their state-of-the-art aircraft technology to Leader, suggesting that their planes practically fly themselves.
JK Sukky Company(Krustofsky from East Lebatuck) - #1005: Another foreign company pitching their aircraft to Leader, but at a much lower price point. Based on the name and the representative’s promises, the aircraft are likely error-prone and made of cheap/repurposed materials.
Shop-Qwik - #1006: The location where an actor is called out for holding open a door. Most likely a typical shopping location with an emphasis on a quick trip.
In a Spin Automatic Doors - #1006: A company partly owned by a fringe economist, they manufacture automatic doors and suggest to Leader that all doors in @@NAME@@ should be automated.
Max Grass Corporations - #1067: One of the largest marijuana manufacturers in the nation, who wants to move forward in a merger with their rival company, Green Way Growers. They donate 2% of their profits to schools, hospitals, and other community programs.
TurboLux Household Appliances(partially run by your uncle) - #1068: A company responsible for manufacturing various appliances, such as toasters. These appliances have a strange habit of breaking just out of warranty. When confronted, your uncle suggests abolishing warranty requirements completely.
Horizon Communications - #1099: A company seeking a partnership with @@NAMEINITIALS@@ASA to create the most high-tech reception satellite ever, in order to improve phone signal across the nation.
Bricks an’ Stuff - #1118: A construction firm who is the subject of a court case after their workers were killed working on a bridge project. Their lawyer expresses that they stand firmly against additional safety precautions, though they support subsidies for companies that claim to go through various safety procedures.
EasyBlues(CEO:Hillary Murdoch) - #1343: a budget airline whose pilot and safety regulations resulted in a deliberate airplane crash and the death of 416 passengers and 12 crew.
Twist-And-Scream Jump Park(CEO: KendraWynne) - #1344: An amusement park that contains trampoline attractions. They advocate for the incorporation of their play parks into PE lessons.
Mrs. Lovett's Pies - #1352: A pie shop that serves pies made from the human flesh.
Microshaft Windoors - #1356: A common operating system that was exported into your nation from the United Federation. Commonly in computers throughout your nation - #1356

 Thanks! To be sure though, your lists are fantastic and inspired me to make this list, and as of right now this is barely a skeleton - not even sure if we can compare, to be honest :p Hopefully I'll be able to edit in all the descriptions and Issue titles soon! Definitely thanks for providing your lists as a guideline though, that really helped :D

Glad to see "Ugly Fat-Face" qualifies for the list here.

There are a ton of hilarious names here, glad you put this together.

Also, the 3 "Tonys" may be considered a recurring character.

Whoops, forgot the hyphen :p

And yep, I've been considering that (I think there's actually four, including the original Fat Tony from FamilyCorp?), will likely implement that in my next update.

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't forget the hyphen. Double oopsie

Fairly minor, but going to start working on larger updates, especially on descriptions, probably starting tomorrow.

Thanks everybody for the support! :)

A former mod told me Mortimer Gratwick is supposed to be of some relation to Catherine - "probably a cousin". Unless Elizabeth is just a mistaken reference to Catherine, I would assume she is of some relation as well. Incidentally Catherine of Aragon was Elizabeth I's stepmother, so maybe Elizabeth G. is supposed to be a daughter/stepdaughter figure?

I love it!

Well done hunting down the Elon Musks. It's a running joke for his expys that we never use the exact same name twice. My own headcanon is that there's a Musk1.0 who keeps getting cloned.

Formatting-wise, can I suggest that you bold-type the character names for readability?

Catherine Gratwick is a descendant of Elizabeth, according to the issue.

As to the name and the Catherine of Aragon link, that's pure coincidence I think. I think Atlae Isles just picked Elizabeth because it sounds like the sort of name that someone in the family of people named Mortimer and Catherine might have. You should ask the author though.

Ah. Thanks for the correction. I've never actually seen the issue before, so maybe I should have read it first. :P

Aaaaaand the company descriptions should be all finished! They're currently brief and to the point, but I'll be periodically adding more and more. I'll also start adding Issue titles and (maaaybe?) links for each issue appearance, though that might take a while. It's finally (sort of, not really) complete!

The list has been updated to the most recent issue (thanks Val and Jutsa! :3) and I'm currently working on formatting plus adding descriptions to recurring characters and companies. The newest additions to the list for characters and companies have been formatted and given descriptions, and I'll be doing that from now on while (very) slowly updating from older issues - big thanks to Noah for helping me out with a huge chunk of the companies!

Though I am disappointed that you didn't mention Muhammad Lee, Muhammad Lee and their friend, Muhammad Lee. :p

If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long.
