Title: Tax Attack

Validity: Taxes above 0%, no autocracy, have welfare spending

Description:
As the national tax deadline approaches, multiple whistleblowers from the government revenue agency have come forward with claims of exemption from tax payments given to political figures, politicians skimming off tax returns, and collected tax revenue being used for less-than-necessary purposes, government figures and citizenry alike have come to you for action.

[Option 1]: "This is what I've been warning everyone about!" says @ RANDOMNAME@, a semi-popular conservative podcaster. "Come on, three billion @CURRENCY@ put towards a 'public servant retirement fund'? 500 million on changing the gradient on every stop sign in @NATION@? All revenue agencies, along with the idea of mandatory tax collection, should be abolished!"

[Effect]: politicians struggle to afford the latest car models and buy lobbyists coffee

[Option 2]: "Don't listen to that reactionary!" barks @RANDOMNAME@, your Commissioner of Revenue. "Sure, we had a few bad eggs, but taxes are essential for paying for the things every @DENONYM@ needs. Healthcare, public schools, retirement security; these services are essential to the nation's wellbeing and efficiency. We should actually raise taxes while we're talking about it, the people will thank us when they realize how important they are."

[Effect]: taxation is on the rise in the name of tax management

[Option 3]: "I believe you're all missing the big picture." infamous anarchist and author @RANDOMNAME@ says poshly. "The government collects taxes to pay for government expenses, programs, et cetera. All these problems would go away if the government simply dissolved and let people manage themselves. Sure, it might not be the best situation for yourself, but think about it as an opportunity to be free and do whatever your statist heart desires."

[Effect]: the government is dismantled every time someone complains on tax day

It’s alright, but I’d add a fourth option as a middle ground to these three extremes. Also, the effect lines could use more wit. Other than that, it’s actually a pretty decent proposal. Not too many mistakes, however, I am worried there is premise overlap.

Oh, one more thing. You have to have a population above 250 million when you submit the issue, so wait, like 20 more days? I know, but still.

I'll think about a fourth option, I see your point on all three being extreme.

I also know that my population isn't high enough, I plan to draft it here and submit it when I have enough.

Personal and grammar edits in red. Personal notes in green.

Take a look for overlap with Issue 221. Nothing terribly obvious, but there may have been something I missed.

Added grammar corrections and the Jaccuzi line, which I thought was funny. Also thank you for the compliment!

In the first thing I corrected adding extra @ signs, I added an accidental space.

Added a fourth, more neutral option, the effect line is based on the idiom "fingers in a lot of pies".

I thought blue collar would make more sense, a white collar lobbyist isn't going to want to actively fight fraudulent financial practices.

Why is the tax office noticing this now, and not, say 10 election cycles ago?

They were whistleblower complaints, maybe corruption was still among them that long ago, but only just now have people come out about it, most likely due to discontent.

Added no devolution validity, in devolution tax decisions would be delegated to local governments.

First thing first, lose the redundant sentence on the end.

So let's look at the presented issue again.

As the national tax deadline approaches, multiple whistleblowers from the government revenue agency have come forward with claims of exemption from tax payments given to political figures, politicians skimming off tax returns, and collected tax revenue being used for less-than-necessary purposes.

So you've mentioned three things here:
- Tax avoidance
- Corrupt skimming of revenue
- Poorly justifiable treasury expenditures

These are separate issues and shouldn't be conflated, but equally none of them are original enough to form a whole narrative on their own.

However, you can't construct a complete narrative by conflating three distinct ones. Instead, you should try to construct a single narrative with a clear focus point, but with depth to it.

I suggest drop this issue, bear the above in mind, and try again with a more focused and complete premise.
