We'd have to manually count that number, and I'd rather focus on reviewing submissions than do that. When we come to do a follow-up News page post we may have to count it up for that.

Is the 300 total submission including the illegal/spam ones?

It looks like 273 submissions total, including everything.

Forgive me if this has already been brought up, or won't work, but can issues entered into the competition but don't make the top 10 be accepted as normal issues? I was just wondering and I hadn't seen any confirmation before, so I thought I'd ask

Results will be released after we review the 273 submissions. That will take some time. There's no defined completion date.

So when's my promotion? *dunks on inferior authors* jk jk please don't nuke me

Was fun to have a competition again. Honestly would've probably not bothered with NS for a while were it not for it. :P
(Course, I would've gotten a lot more progress done on my other projects, but that's beside the point.)
Not like I was aiming to win, but still, it gave me a good excuse to get old drafts done. and then make half a dozen more.
And proceed to not work on my half-dozen existing drafts I still want to work on. :)
You're welcome to telegram me any questions you have of the game. Unless I've CTE'd (ceased to exist) - then you physically can't do that.

I'd like to commend the great feedback and overall drafting ethic I've seen across GI over the last few weeks.

Feedback can be tricky to give and receive, but it's invaluable to any writer no matter their experience or skill. It was very encouraging to see many new writers presenting good-spirited feedback on drafts across GI, especially given the unusually competitive atmosphere.

Well done, colleagues.

We had almost 300 entries, which is great. Thank you to everyone who entered.

I’m surprised! The fourth one had less submissions per person and no lockdown, and that had a lot more.

Did you submit anything for the fourth one?

Aww RIP. I managed to get an honorable mention in that one when an issue of mine dealing with price-jacking in the pharmaceutical industry got accepted.

They’re probably still judging the contest. Or contacting the potential Editors. I don’t think they’d conclude it without a message, even without any new Editors.

We compiled an initial shortlist of just under 50 issues. We're in the process of doing a more thorough review of those, which takes more time as we want as many Editors as possible to take part in that, and some members have limited time available to do this. We're hoping to have that stage done by the end of next week. The next step would then be to put together the winning "Top 10" and also contact any people we might want to trial as potential Editors.

What are the chances that an issue from the fifty is getting published (even not as a contest winner/top 10)?

Most (if not all) of the shortlisted 48 will get published. There's likely to be quite a few from outside the shortlist which will make it too, albeit with some work needed to them.

My bad. What I meant to ask was have we passed the submission date? I don't wanna submit. I'm just curious. Thanks for the info though. It was quite interesting

How long do you think this will take? Two months? Three months? Longer. I'm guessing that those from outside the shortlist will be the last of the contest issues to get published
