To some extent unwanted states are a kind of veracity. Everything goes wrong in real world politics, too. The interface of culture, government, and economy is the sort of complex beast that the gerrymander tries to fight with, and countless other constructs as well. The ways that things go wrong in NationStates are parodic, but the occasional Big Blunder is par for the course.
