Independent Federation of Croatia wrote:I am interested in where in these results or how can I see whether my black market will increase or decrease?
Unfortunately, this is not possible, due to the lack of a Black Market per Capita score (analogous to what Average Income does for Economic Output). Using the available Black Market score doesn't work because it scales with your nation's population, which increases even if you don't answer any issues.

Adding a Black Market per Capita score seems like it should be very easy for the admins to do, aside from the work of drawing new trophy icons, but there do not currently appear to be plans to do such a thing, despite several requests.

While I could try to compute Black Market per Capita by dividing Black Market by Population myself, this would be subject to rounding errors (and more importantly, variable rounding errors even if the real value isn't changing), and I'd prefer to avoid such exceptionalism in making up my own stats, since I'm trying to report objective data rather than stuff I've arbitrarily decided is important.

Under the circumstances your best bet is to look at other scores like Crime, which don't necessarily correspond to Black Market, but are probably related.

Ha, my script wasn't able to catch that because, of course, "misbehaving" is a perfectly valid word to put in your @@ANIMAL@@ custom field :)

Come again? #262 isn't listed as having a variant option in my data, nor in the spoiler thread, nor in any of your recent posts to the spoiler thread that I can find.

Possibly it was a typo for #268, which you did recently report discovering a variant option on?

268, yes!
I might not have reported the shift like at #96, correct. But reported were: 1, 3, 4 with the above report filling in the option 2, which then gives the same effect line as option 1. And it's 268, dammit.... confused numbers between two posts  :eyebrow:

Option 2 has a slightly different wording than the listed option 1:
1. [...] "Parents needs to accept the responsibility if they choose to have unprotected sex. It's not the state's job to raise children.

vs.
2. [...] “Parents need to accept responsibility. It’s not the state’s job to raise children.

Also in #975, the report list a Socialist variant of option 3 as fourth. Likely with the same line as option 3?

Ah, that one is in Jutsa's list even though it was never explicitly reported! Makes sense, my data shows that that effect line can be gotten on both socialist and capitalist nations.

Hey Trotterdam, I'd like to first thank you for having mwq.dds up, I've used it ever since I started NationStates.

I've found several mistakes, but this is the biggest one so far.
Option #3 in Issue #626 'Carbon Copied' lists 'Taxation (mean -0.1869), Freedom From Taxation (mean -0.1060)'
I selected this as I desperately need to lower my taxation rate, but the outcome was 'Taxation +1.3%' and 'Freedom From Taxation -4.4%.' Ouch.

I'm not sure how this would be entered incorrectly but it seems that way to me. I'll let you know if I come across anything similar.

Actually, the taxation effects for 626.3 are "-0.38 to +2.96 Taxation (mean +0.4195)" and "-1.94 to +0.87 Freedom From Taxation (mean -0.6658)". I'm not sure where you were looking, but that's copied straight from the site (with emphasis added). As you can see, there is a chance of a drop in taxation, but an increase is more common, and that's what you got.

Also, note that the site records stat changes in absolute numbers, not percentages. If you want to see them like that on your own nation, you'll need to turn on "Show more stats" in Settings.

Romans 1:18-2:29, Ephesians 2:1-10
But God’s angry displeasure erupts as acts of human mistrust and wrongdoing and lying accumulate, as people try to put a shroud over truth. But the basic reality of God is plain enough. Open your eyes and there it is! | Those people are on a dark spiral downward. But if you think that leaves you on the high ground where you can point your finger at others, think again. Every time you criticize someone, you condemn yourself. | It’s a wonder God didn’t lose His temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, He embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on His own, with no help from us!

Actually actually, Western Revinalia chose option 4 by internal numbering, which would have appeared as option 3 due to the first two options being mutually exclusive. The data for that one is listed as:
-2.61 to +1.75 Taxation (mean -0.1869)
-178.51 to +1.92 Freedom From Taxation (mean -0.1060)
This clearly shows that either an increase or decrease is plausible, but it tends not to make a big difference either way.

Although your Freedom from Taxation may have seen a relatively large percentage change (though 4.4% still isn't that huge), note that your score in that category is very low to begin with (13.16, or an estimated 13.77 if the 4.4% reduction is undone, though this isn't precise since the other issues you've answered since then have probably also affected the value a little), when it can reach into the hundreds for many nations, and even into the thousands for the top 0.1%, so even a relatively small change would register as a large percentage due to how low your initial score was.

That's the problem with people being unaware of numbering and visible options. Either there are more (includng those you can't see) or all have already been reported (the default). Only seldomly there are unreported options/effect lines.

It might have been changed, but when I received 316 today, there were only four options. The third + fourth became one option (number 3) while your fifth is now the fourth. There might still be a fifth (the previously double 3/4) but I have no idea which validity check should trigger that split.

The split on #316 was reported here. Can you confirm the exact text you got, and whether the nation in question had the No Smoking policy?

Ah, okay. I don't remember which nation it was, just that the options I had were those in Jutsa's list (i.e. 1-4). Could be the "chocolate" version is the fifth, not the fourth, so it was appended, not put in between.
My interpretation is like: The reporter of that "4th option" saw it as fourth option, but failed to check if it is choice-3 or other. Once the tobacco-related option 3 is out, the "real" fourth (choice-3) would be shown as 3. in their list of options, thus a possible fifth (choice-4) would be shown as 4. I think that is what happened there. So I shall confirm and check this, unless some editor finds time to confirm this/else.

Edit: I got that 316 at War Dogs XV, which has the No-Smoking policy. Choices were 0-3, so all as listed in Jutsa's list. Maybe there is a fifth option for smokers, we'll find out someday.

Also, the 1310.5:
the immigration system seems to favor young unmarried women
which removes the No-Immigration, as expected

Incidentally, option 2's effect line is "many @@DEMONYMNOUNPLURAL@@ are their brothers' keepers"... which really would happen if you chose either of the first two options. With option 2, some people would end up owning their half-siblings on their father's side, while with option 1, some people would end up owning their half-siblings on their mother's side. Only half-siblings on the father's side were present in this issue's narrative, but then that sibling was also as sister (or at least randomly-chosen-gender) rather than a brother.
