[DRAFT]So-duh Troubles

Postby Yodle » Tue Apr 03, 2018 1:05 am

I apparently wrote this over a year ago and I don't think I ever submitted it here for drafting, so I thought I'd give it a go :)

#116 Soda Hits New 'High' ok so did a little bit of research and this issue appears to be similar to this in the sense that it involves soda, although the premises and results are a lot different so I'm not sure if it would be viable.

[Title]So-duh Troubles
[desc]After recent reports of rising obesity rates in the nation, the cause has been linked to the booming success of the Soda Sales industry.
[validity]If the Soda Sales industry is the major industry for the nation.

[option]You can feel the floor vibrate as a remarkably large man comes waddling into your office. “@@LEADER@@, you have to do regulate this industry at once. I’ve gained over 100 pounds in the past month just from drinking soda, this is getting out of hand!” The obese man takes a sip from his jumbo sized soda cup as he continues, “It's the sugar, man!”
[effect]Soda has become a rarity in local stores and restaurants.

[option]“Nonsense!” Shouts @@RANDOMMALENAME@@, CEO of Maxa Cola, the leading Soda company in the nation, as he barges into the room. “You can’t believe a word this man says, the soda has had nothing to do with his weight gain. In fact, if you grant my company some tax credits, we can even invest in new diet soda for those who are trying to lose weight!”
[effect]You can’t go anywhere in NATION without seeing obese people drinking new Diet Soda.

[option]Your Minister of Health pops his head up from behind the obese man, who was covering him from your view the entire time. “If I may interject @@LEADER@@, perhaps the issue is not the soda, but rather our failing Healthcare System. If you increase our funding, I guarantee you we will start to see results with our obesity epidemic in no time!”
[effect]People have been losing weight through new government subsidized exercise programs.

I would be more worried about #288 Super-Sized Pizzas Recipe For Disaster?, and all the other issues about obesity.

Sure, it's not soda, but it's the same principle.

Oh wow, yeah obesity is a very saturated topic clearly. I suppose because it's so prevalent in today's society that's why it's such a common topic of issues, although IRL sugary drinks like soda do play a major role in the obesity epidemic. I will try and come up with a different approach for it though

Edit: Also it's probably a very common topic because it's an easy area for comedic material
