Issue 702 extremely decreased much of my government spending, way more than the usual ~0.07%. I did expect my spending to go down, but the amount caused by this issue is insane. I think the stat changes here need to be more in line with other issues.

Taxation
Effective Tax Rate 97.75 → 97.70 0.05%

Ideological Radicality
Paul-Nader Subjective Decentrality Index 15.45 → 15.44 0.06%

Economic Freedom
Rand Index -83.67 → -83.78 0.13%

Civil Rights
Martin Luther King, Jr. Units 67.74 → 67.64 0.15%

Public Transport

It might help to specify the option you chose.

The changes on the option you picked are very small and in line in other issues.

Economic effects have -- as it says in the OP (I suggest looking under "Why did my civil rights / political freedom / economy move the wrong way?", though the whole OP is very useful) -- a very complex simulation behind it.

Briefly, I can say the changes you received are as expected (in line with the stats, correctly, on the option you selected reacting with your own stats and producing the secondary stats).

In future, as Westinor says, please give the option you picked (as well as naming the particular effect(s) you find unusual); also the date (if not today) and the nation (if answering on a puppet. Thanks!

I picked option 3 of 702: these are the stats that were out of whack: (I guess you could call them the socialist stats):
[I agree there should be drops in these, but they’re 11x bigger than the usual, and that’s too big to justify in scale to other stats]

Public Transport
Societal Mobility Rating 4,726.94 → 4,689.47 0.79%

Public Education
Edu-tellignce® Test Score 21,001.11 → 20,834.63 0.79%

These changes were all really very small, and, as I said in the answer you excerpted, nothing was unusual in any of them.

Issue's working as expected.

201.1 doesn’t install Weapons of Mass Destruction, but the option asks for funding for nuclear submarines.

Nuclear submarines are submarines powered by nuclear reactors. They don't necessarily have any nuclear weapons onboard. Usually they're attack submarines that are only designed for attacking other ships. (The advantage of nuclear power is that since it doesn't require air to burn and can keep going a long time without refuelling, you can stay submerged for a long time and not risk being detected when you suface.)

Ah, I didn’t realize it referred to power, not weapons.

Thanks Trott.

This isn't an unusual effect that has specifically to do with an issue, but:

why is my regional influence plummeting? The only other times that has happened to me were when I CTEd or switched regions.

Influence isn’t tied to issues. To answer your question, nations’ influence in GCRs decay over time

Is there any way to rectify this other than switching regions?

Gain more endorsements, if possible. (though this discussion is better suited for another thread/subforum)

Earlier today, Oct 21 2020, I answered Issue #61: Should The Government Grant Estates And Titles Of Nobility?

After answering option two, I saw no effects or stats from my answer, and I have not seen this happen with any issues before. I cannot tell if it is abnormal or intended. Again, nothing increased or decreased. No percentages like usual, which confused me, so I am writing this to figure it out.

This often happens when the choice you make is completely in line with past decisions made by your nation. The stat changes are thus too miniscule to detect on the immediate results page, or there might not be any changes at all.

I picked option 3 of issue 292. the effect line was literally "Tourists outnumber citizens two to one", but my tourism stat did not change.

The OP wrote: 1) Tourism doesn't always go up when you expect it to.
Tourism is excessively dependent on the environment in the current simulation, so an issue that trades environment for additional tourism will normally result in a spurious fall in tourism.

Option 2 of issue 878
"Freedom is slavery," observes your Minister of Plenty, while carrying out his daily physical jerks to keep himself fit. "Grab those who complain, and strip them of their liberty by putting them to forced labour in service of the state. Good citizens will have the incentive to behave better, and our economy will benefit from a costless workforce."

This made authoritarianism go down for some reason

Authoritarianism is a measure of government involvement in daily life.

The option you selected gave you the "slavery" policy (which was implied by the option text). While your civil rights did decrease, slavery increased your economic freedom, as employers are now free from preexisting restrictions on wages - hence less overall government involvement.

It appears that everything is functioning normally here.

WTF?

So, I just got this issue while having the Atheism policy. I chose the third option and the policy got cancelled. That's ok. The thing is, it also enacted Human Sacrifice.

You must have had the Human Sacrifice flag from before you banned religion. It was hidden while religion was banned, but the game remembered, so as soon as you relegalized religion you got your old religion back - including its practice of human sacrifice.

Hey Team,

I just got issue 1390 (part of the new series).

7. “Reparations! We’re not paying any stinkin’ reparations!” blusters Defense Minister Mack Rimera, who has turned a rather alarming shade of red. “Have you forgotten how they almost annihilated us? Yes, we definitely killed a bunch of their solders. What did they think would happen when they brought nuclear missiles to our borders? This treaty is just a slap in the face — and we’re definitely not disarming or letting in waves of immigrants. You need to walk away from the negotiating table, and hit them with sanctions for good measure. They’re our enemy forevermore.”

The highlight is mine, and considering English is my second language, please accept my apologies if I'm wrong, but is this meant to say "soldiers"?

Cheers. And again, my apologies if I am misunderstanding the writing here.

Thank you. Fixed.

I hate auto-correct.

Oh. I just found it weird for an atheist nation to legalize sacrifices so quickly. Speaking about sacrifices, they're consentual, right?

Not an issues-editor so no official answer, but I just thought I would help out and offer a bit of data and info, because that's what I like to do! :P

Anyway, so I have looked at Secularism vs. Ritual Sacrifices, both percentage and my homebrew Absolute Values. The y-axis, Absolute Ritual Sacrifices, is taken as Death % from Ritual Sacrifices * Death Rate stat. The result?

Image

There is also a particularly interesting nation in question - Whereisthatistan, which more or less has a good amount of Secularism, but still has Ritual Sacrifices, on top of the policy on human sacrifices being present. They have neither Atheism nor Theocracy as their policy.

We are perhaps looking at a nation that has a large % of atheist people, on top of the government being secular (perhaps), and yet they still have sacrifices. Maybe it's tradition.
