I surmise that the more beautiful your environment, the more people want to go out in nature, which makes them more physically active through things like hiking, mountain biking or camping (as examples). As well, that's probably why 0,9% of your people are 'lost in the wilderness.' And I also think the more your nation's land is cared for, the more suitable it can become for agriculture, increasing people's access to healthier and more nutritious foods

Do you answer your issues in quick succession or was that already there after banning cars?

As I think Outer Sparta is suggesting, it looks like you answered two issues you had received back to back. The issue featuring the out of control car had already been assigned to you before you banned cars by responding to the other issue.

This is what I compiled from their national happenings:
4 hours ago: Following new legislation in New Eestiball, broken suspension systems are giving auto repair shops plenty of business.(refers to the car driving into market stall)
4 hours ago: Following new legislation in New Eestiball, cars have been banned. (refers to issue #2)
4 hours ago: Following new legislation in New Eestiball, retirement homes are often fitted with luxurious suites. (unrelated)
Definitely looks to be the case that they had multiple issues in queue answered pretty much all at the same time.

Today I received 1257: It's a kind of magic. Chose option one, submitting the artefact giving off anomalous energy for study to the scientific community for technological advances. Expected result, boost to scientific advancement, maybe a boost to corruption given the "aquire" Instead:

Ignorance: Missed References Per Hour 21.64 → 22.16 +2.4%
Scientific Advancement: Kurzweil Singularity Index 4.52 → 1.06 -76.5%

The result message seems a bit strange, too; not sure how scientific study leads to meteorologists consulting totems. Unless the totems really do predict the weather (which apparently they do given the boost to weather), in which case, that seems like an advance in science, if a bizzare one.

- 2022 / May / 18
- Reading, Your Rights: 572

Schools and public libraries have historically selected what books can be found on their respective properties, and many have taken this a step further, actively banning unsuitable books from being read under their roofs. A group of legally-minded high school students are challenging this practice, claiming that this is an infringement of their civil rights.

- Option 3: Online, a guy with a unicorn pizza avatar named ... “LOL. Y U need books NEway? Duz NE1 even reads those things anymor anyway. =S havnt picked 1 up since highschool ... you shud ban paper. #4ENVIROMENT yeh?”

So I expected Book Publishing to take a hit but... "Bella Potter Productivity E-Index 12,658.80 → 167.92 98.7%" ..oof
I thought this was just banning paper?!

Even the headline indicates books are still getting consumed
- Modern readers say a story is worthless without hyperlinked footnotes and editable wiki format.

Does this indicate the publishing stat is strictly paper books?
Could this industry be recovered soon?
Starting over feels awful.

Effects from issues can vary, depending on what your current stats are before you select a given option. In your particular case, your other stats were such that you didn't have additional visible effects from this one.

Chose option 3, which said tax deductions would be eliminated. I expected this to increase taxation and reduce inequality, since tax deductions favor the rich. Instead the opposite happened. What's up with that?

This nation, around half an hour or so ago.
Issue #1311 'An Acquired Taste'.
I chose option 2, to improve the quality & quantity of the meat reaching the market, but the nation's 'Food Quality' stat fell -- albeit only slightly --when what I expected was a slight rise. Shouldn't improving the meat supply (and its diversity) like this improve that stat, rather than worsen it? After all, allowing restaurants to serve all sorts of meats in #1474 'Cuy Bono?' causes a rise...
(And "bushmeat" is basically just the same as "game", except for which countries it comes from, and a good piece of venison is very nice, after all...)

That might actually be a result of the agricultural stat falling. It caused a pretty big dip for you and from personal experience boosting agriculture is one of the ways that I've seen raise it a decent amount.

Issue 70, option 1 decreased my death rate, despite both option and effect line indicating that the result would be execution of those not following the religion.

I suspect that it’s one of those knock-on effects (given the decrease was about 0.1), but I wanted to check anyways.

Yes indeed - taking a look at what you got from that, it does appear to be a correct (but fairly hilarious) background effect of how some of those stats play out. Given how constrained your citizens' religious choices already war, your declaration of a brutal theocracy likely didn't actually find too many victims. In practical terms, it may have removed the last vestiges of resistance that were causing some hazards for the majority of the populace.

Good point, thank you. Somehow I overlooked that change when checking the choice's effects.

Lofia - 2022-06-02
Issue #60: Supreme Court Nomination

I haven't made my decision yet, but I got Option #3's dialogue: "Reverend @@RANDOMNAME@@ is nominee #2. The Reverend says "I am sick and tired of the liberals in this country ruining our family values. Every day they assault our basic sense of decency. You must vote for me to keep our families safe. Think of the children!" [Must lean towards being religious]" despite my nation leaning towards secularism.

Stats right before I encounter this issue: Religiousness - 8.53, Secularism - 29.05.

I verified that you received the correct option for your nation.

The unofficial validities mentioned in the Spoiler thread are an interpretation by the authors, but are not necessarily an exact match when it comes to things that aren't strictly a binary flag like capitalism/socialism.

The end of the issue answer you selected reads, and emphasis mine, "Don't worry about the price; we'll just forward our small fee to your accountant." Therein the bolded part seems to lie an area of increased government expenditure, likely necessitating an increase in your Administration budget and, ipso facto, government size.

In my experience, the final option of that issue - where you "encourage all government officials to wear clothes that are affordable to the average @@DEMONYM@@" - is the way to minimize the government

Issue #434 'Fraternity Furor'.
This nation, just a few minutes ago.
Option 3, making the fraternities more exclusive socially, caused a drop in Food Quality: Shouldn't that "higher class" membership demand better-quality food?

Issue #1512, "The Door's Unlocked, Let Yourself In..."
This nation, just before this post.

I appreciate that Option #1 always lowers death rates, but why does Option #1 increase Health policy and drain Obesity? That seems like it's feeding into negative stereotypes about fat people.

Food Quality is an oddly named one - it's looking at "quality, creativity, and diversity of food," which can be very different things. While limiting frat membership might result in the remaining members having fancier preferences, they're also likely to be more homogeneous. If quality went up, but creativity and diversity went down, then the overall trend for the stat would probably be downward.

The final line of that option specifies "..and to protect the health, anonymity and wellbeing of every inmate, no matter what they’ve done." Passing laws that focus on improving health and wellbeing of segments of your population will lead to those statistical results. Which aspect of the result do you feel is feeding a negative stereotype?

I don't know where to put this, but I've gotten the same exact issue 3 times in 2 days (???) It's issue 1507, nothing special I can tell by it. But surely with 1500 issues, I wouldn't get the same one in each rendition of my issue renewals ???

I have it in my queue right now, and then it came up the following times:
3 hours ago: Following new legislation in Bear Connors Paradiso, life is somewhat repetitive.
