Insane issue effects

Postby Republic of Deae Lunae » Wed Oct 12, 2016 10:56 am

I just had an issue about murderers having their faces and manifestos plastered all over the news in my nation, giving me an option of if this a good thing or not. (I forget the actual issue title). Choosing an option that went something like 'Let them be forgotten to history'; I get a tagline of 'Genocide is seen as a topic best avoided in history lessons. '

...and my Political Freedom and Civil Rights both immediately drop by 6 points each. So a collective 12-point change off one issue? I can see if I chose an option to suspend elections, institute a secret police, microchip citizens for 24/7 tracking or one of those issues but I am so tired of these stealth GOTYA~! issues that are completely and unexpectedly devastating to your stats, just for the 'lols'.

It is BS like this that make me want to quit NS. I now get to spend months trying to repair damage done by one stinking issue with insanely extreme effects? Remind me how this is supposed to be fun?

This thread is the appropriate place to note weird issue effects:

What really sucks is when you're playing Monopoly and you just randomly pull a "Go Directly To Jail" card. I mean, WTF, right?

Flipping the board is way more fun than that.

I can sympathize, but really, the whole "possible unintended consequences" is advertised right on the front sign up page. It's not like you're not getting what you were promised.

I can accept unintended consequences, but when seemingly minor issues start swinging ratings by 12 points, that is not then a minor set back, or something that makes you go 'Ha! Did not see that coming'.
