Why did my political freedom rating drop 25 points?

Plunged from 77 to 52 all of a sudden and I can't see a connection to any issue that may have triggered it.

Looks like it was an issue you answered on the 3rd, which is too long ago to show on your history. A mod might be able to tell.

It would be the issue with the effect: "visitors entering . . ." (Is that the door issue?). By effectively making your leader unreachable, your people no longer have as much political say/your government has become far more centralized and insulated. The effect seems a tad excessive, but probably can be explained as the effect causing other smaller and similar side effects.

I thought that was too recent, but you could well be right.

4 days ago: Following new legislation in Plisskenstan, some members of Parliament are illiterate.

4. "You're missing the whole point of democracy," argues a strange woman wearing a toga. "Democracy is about equality! The best system of representation is sortition. Go back to the ancient way of doing things and pick representatives from among the common citizens through allotment. People who run for political office are usually untrustworthy and power-hungry. Randomly-selected citizens will make far better decisions than greedy politicians, even if they're a little incompetent. Lottocracy all the way!"

Lottocracies may be the fairest, but there ain't no voting going on.
