Editorial progress on current batch?

Editorial progress on current batch?

Postby Jivoya » Sat Feb 20, 2010 12:26 pm

The last update was at the end of July '09 when the current batch ends.
At that time there were four members likely to be editing new issues, thanks to the contest.
Since then, one of them, "Responsible", became an ex-nation, possibly reducing that number to three.

I'd like to know how much of the current batch has been dealt with in that time so I can get a vague estimate on how long it takes any new submissions to be examined.

There was a 10 month delay by September '08, which is presumably growing with the number of nations -- although I'm not sure how many of them are inclined to try.
The rejection rate must be very high at this stage, not least because older issues remove topics from the available pool, which is limited by various criteria.

Slow, I'm afraid. I'm in the midst of my last university semester which will be quickly followed by being married. I simply haven't been able to devote much time to NationStates at all. I'm planning on putting a new issue in tonight though so I hope that helps!

I can't speak for Glen-Rhodes, but having Sirocco busy in RL (and thus hard to submit things to) puts a damper on one's editorial ardor. I'm still looking at a small batch and will hopefully be able to do them soon.

I wish I remember who wrote:Games like Nationstates are like a big cardboard box, and there are two kinds of people in the world. The kind who look at the empty void inside the box and ask "Where the hell is it?" and the kind who jump into the box with their friends and make it into a fort, or a spaceship.

That suggests to me that a greater division of labour might help. The fewer judgement calls Sirocco has to think about, the lower the barriers to starting a session and the investment involved per issue, and the more rewarding it is for the delegated editors.
