I feel like an increase of 1,000 points is a little ridiculous:

The increase I am speaking of is the one for the soda industry
1000 industry is really not that much, note that you have others reaching 4000 and 10000.

Your soda industry simply went from not profitable at all to somewhat profitable. Canning all those drinks was just too much effort without slave labor.

This nation DOES use NS statistics, but the interpretation for some of them might be a bit skewed.

Maybeso it's because you've hidden the poor from everybody else's sight?
Or, if this decision also lowered crime rates, as a side-effect of that result?

Hahah! I can see how that has happened, thanks to the new stat-o-vision we've recently gained. Might be argued to be not so much "working as intended" as "amusing result of starting circumstances plus externalities".

I'll discuss it in the editing room, but this one may not change. Enjoy your new soda industry!

Because Charmlessness is a really weird stat. Affected by loads of things. So weird, that its worth disregarding from an issue design POV, in my mind, but inconsequential enough to be put aside for another day.

I don't particualry mind, just seemed a bit excessive (though I do like my 153,000% increase that caused that :p )

Issue 273, deciding to increase the education budget made my safety rating go down by around 20 percent IIRC. Doesn't really make much sense.

Did taxes increase? If not, the funds probably got appropriated from some other department.

Is #281 option 4 ("electrocution deaths among computer technicians are at an all-time high") supposed to ever reduce Death Rate?

Issue 242, option 2(Leader has been self-declared as the Most Supreme Magnificent Overlord of Everything You Ever Saw). I was expecting authoritarianism to go up, maybe corruption and law enforcement also. Instead:
  • freedom from taxation goes up 68.8%(-145.82 -- -45.49)
  • averageness goes up
  • nothing happens to authoritarianism
  • nothing happens to civil rights or political freedom
  • ideological radicality goes down
  • scientific advancement goes down
  • arms manufacturing goes down 8.3%, but weaponization goes up 7.1%
  • defense forces go down 12.7%(12349.17 -- 10778.35)
  • law enforcement goes down 14.5%(8792.61 -- 7517.67)
  • taxation goes down 14.6%(89.43 -- 76.33)
  • government size goes down 22.2%(27.6 -- 21.47)
  • black market goes down 31.9%, but crime goes up 9%
  • all the average incomes, and economic output, go down 37.8%
  • economy goes down 44.6%(87.22 -- 48.3)
  • eco-friendliness goes down 58.6%(9187.78 -- 3804.12)
  • public healthcare, business subsidization, public transport, welfare, public education, and foreign aid all go down by more than 60%
Instead of the government tightening its grip on the populace, which is what I'd expect from a dictator declaration, it seems I underwent massive budget cuts on everything, creating drastic effects. Also, I was already a dictatorship. I declared myself Supreme Overlord in a few other issues and nothing like this has ever happened. Can someone please explain what was different this time?

#565 option 3 does not raise C-O-M-P-A-S-S-I-O-N.

Not that I agree with that option, but...

Basically, what your government did wasn't raise spending on military and law enforcement (the "tightening its grip on the populace" that you expected), what it did was cut spending on everything except military and law enforcement, severely lowering taxes.

That military and law enforcement decreased at all can probably be chalked up to your cuts to business subsidization trashing your economy, so that your government is able to make less tax revenue and so spends less even on those things it's still spending on. You'll note that they dropped much less than other government departments.

But why? Why should there be a huge spending cut just because I'm the Most Supreme Magnificent Overlord of Everything You Ever Saw now?

Well, that explains the army stuff going down, but I'm still confused on the drastic spending cuts. And why did authoritarianism, civil rights, and political freedom stay the same?

Now you can set yourself up as Supreme Evil Overlord For Life! If you don't have complete control then where's the fun? That's what I say. I've taken the liberty of cutting some of the more boring departments, we only really need the police and military in my opinion. Oh! You get a free space hopper too."
This is not an endorsement of responsible spending.

Your nation became more attractive for visitors because you corralled a lot of crime into one place, built a wall around it, and increased Law & Order spending. So it's safer, if you stay outside the walls.

Picked option 1 of the Big fat wedding issue (felt bad for the niece).

I got literally no good stats for doing so: I got an increase in Black Market (16%!), Corruption (obviously, this one I was expecting something like the 3.6% increase I got), Taxation (another obvious one), Political Apathy and the Death Rate.

The decreases were in Ideological Radically (which is odd because surely state-sponsored weddings are more radical in modern settings?), Lifespan, Integrity, Employment (even though surely a big state-sponsored wedding should be employing a small army of people), safety (why? Are there pick-pockets in this wedding or something?) and Freedom from Taxation (correlating with the increase in taxes).

No happiness increase at the bare minimum? Because at the moment there is every incentive not to pick this option. There are literally no desirable results from picking this option (in the opinion of most people) except possibly that decrease in radicality. If you could please reconsider it, that would be lovely.
"At the point in time when bullets can pass through the interdimensional walls, when firepower takes up the entirety and eternity of space and time, all being stuck in a neverending life and death cycle as bullets recover and destroy their bodies in quick succession, no one able to think about anything but the sheer force of the bullets rapidly flying literally everywhere in the Materium, turning the Warp itself into nothing but a sea of semi-automatic weaponry, then there will be enough Dakka. Or atleast almost." - The Emperor.

#565 "Popular cartoon characters frequently appear in government-sponsored PSAs reminding students to say no to drugs."

How the bleep does choosing not to restrict, but rather discourage (and support those who choose to stop) result in a 2% drop in civil rights?

How does Option 555.1, holding open primary elections, decrease Political Freedom? Political Freedom is defined as follows: "These nations allow citizens the greatest amount of freedom to select their own government." Surely, giving every adult citizen the freedom to participate in party nominations contests enhances their freedom to select their own government.

Just responding to the engine queries: These are all tiny (0.06%-0.86%) changes that are flow-on effects from the other things (less safety coming from more corrupt government officials, for example).
