Taking back the suburbs from a pack of raccoons earned me the "Invest in Health" banner?

Which one is that? None of the health banners (or other ones, for that matter) use the word "invest".

However, what most likely happened is that those reccoons were rooting through your trash. Cleaning trash off your streets and locking outdoors trashcans so raccoons can't get in and make a mess of it helped keep your suburbs sanitary.

It was "fund advanced health research".

Most likely banning unions helped all business run a little better, incidentally including Beef-Based Agriculture.

Remember that banners are usually not a reflection of the single choice you made, but rather of the overall state of your nation. So the relevant stat was probably just short of qualifying for the banner before you answered the issue, so that a small additional push was enough to cross the edge even if the issue was only indirectly related to the subject.

I just did an issue where I chose not to serve my prisoners gourmet food but simply what they need to survive.

Freedom From Taxation went down.
Taxation went up.
Government Size went up.
Welfare went up.

None of these effects make sense given that I'm reducing the quality of our taxpayer funded prisons.

I don't know how to see the name of the issue anymore but the effect on my nation was:

"the nation's prisons are touted as the best weight loss programs money can't buy"

Edit: The issue was Food Behind Bars

From the issue choice:

"This is ridiculous!" fumes single mother of three @@RANDOMNAMEFEMALE@@, whose ex-husband is currently behind bars. "Here's me struggling just to give my kids the basics, and he's sitting in a nice warm cell with nothing to do all day but eat like a king! I say we stop this extravagance and redirect the funding into something more appropriate, like welfare for single parents. Prisoners should only be fed what they need to survive."

You are taking money from the prison system but you are redirecting the funding to welfare. Even so, your tax went up 0.04% and govt size went up .08, which are almost non-existent changes.

Issue number 642, option one increased my Civil Rights from 4.79 to 5.14. Which is weird, considering every other time the issue has decreased my civil rights or not effected it at all.

But then your Political Freedoms were already "Excessive", it seems, so you were probably just reinforcing past policy and that doesn't always give you effects...

I'll make some suggested changes backstage. Find another issue that forces your citizens to use drugs again and it should fix it.

So I've corrected the stat. It doesn't update immediately, so keep answering issues as normal.

*edit* and it updated: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=pre ... ensusid=60

No, it actually hurts weather a moderate amount. And whether weather increases or decreases is not something we directly modify, the answer with weather is always secondary effects.

I appreciate that we're in Got Issues and issues themselves have absurd exaggerations, but please please please don't exaggerate your reports.

It dropped from 5 to 2. The world range for weather goes from -7,686 to 4,535. The highest your own weather stat has been in your short history is 126. The world average is 93.36. So a 3 point drop is in no way 'THROUGH THE FLOOR'.

And what Ransium said. Weather is just a bizarre stat in general because @@LEADER@@ indirectly influences it through decisions.

They might not have the advanced stats on, so they see a 150% drop. It might seem "THE
ROUGH THE FLOOR" then

Are you reading our responses at all? Please stop looking at the percentages, turn on advanced stats so you can see the raw number movement and you'll see there's are small changes.

Paying buskers to perform decreased Environmental Beauty by more than 20% percent.
If I managed to get enough energy to write a factbook, information from that will override NS stats.

The News: Author publishes book entirely in fictional language | NRISS: Only 14% of studies are 59% wrong 77% of the time | Colder winters expected this year as climate change intensifies

South Atrada? What South Atrada? There is no South Atrada! South Atrada is just a myth! We totally didn't destroy them in a war! YOU HAVE NO PROOF! SOUTH ATRADA DOESN'T EXIST!
