A little bit ago, I selected option 4 of #457: Colossus With Feet Of Clay, in the hopes of lowering my tourism rate.
4. "The mountain should be totally left alone," agrees environmentalist @@RANDOMFEMALENAME@@, as she hands peace offerings to everyone in the room. "Mount Rushless is an environmental wonder and has been beloved for generations exactly as it is. If anything, we should be passing tougher environmental laws to make sure that these lands can't be sold to the highest bidder. We ought to be designating more lands as national parks and hiring more park rangers to protect them. The government's top priority should be protecting the environment, not opening up another tourist trap!"

I would of thought that this would have lowered my tourism rate, unless option 3 was the one designed to do that.

Your Basket Weaving was pretty low before the drop, so it might be normal. I've had the same thing happen with Eco-Friendliness.

Yes, your Basket Weaving industry was very small to begin with, generating $280 per capita out of a national income of $115,400. So this issue choice nudged it into extinction.

The stats for tourism in this game are dependent on how many people visit your nation, not how much money you make from it. "Opening up a tourist trap" would increase the income from tourism, but not opening up one doesn't stop people from seeing your lands for free by going to a national park, and tourism tends to benefit by protection of the environment.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

That makes more sense. Thank you.

Newspaper headline on a puppet nation: "Prisons Abolished As Government Explores Progressive Sentencing"

Lol, I'd just chosen to force felons to fight as gladiators, throwing them to the @@ANIMAL@@s. :p

EDIT: On another puppet nation (James II), I'm ranked in the top 38% for crime; but the nation's main page says, "Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown." There seems to be discordance, unless a majority of the world's nations have eliminated crime.

This took some figuring out! I discovered a bug that can cause increased Economic Freedom to make the Black Market rise instead of shrink in nations that already have very low levels of black market activity.

A fix will be incoming in the next couple of weeks, which will automatically correct Black Market size in affected nations.

Also to the right of the row of numbers on the newspaper image, above the headline. Should say "No. ###" and that's the issue number.

#37 Traffic Cops Needed On Information Superhighway?

Issue 103, Plague of the hybrids, option 2 (leave them alone).

Charmlessness: Kardashian Reflex Score 4.46 → 77.05 +1,628%

What the bleep!?

This is not one of those huge scores from small stats with medium changes. The new score is in the top 30%. From a "do nothing" option. Come on!

Given the nature of your nation, it would not surprise me if internet use or computers in general were previously illegal, in which case allowing citizens back online, even with heavy monitoring, would be a step up. (Did you receive the "Computers Legalized, Nationwide Doorknocking Campaign Will Inform Citizens" headline? You should always pay special attention when the game shows you five headlines instead of four, the first in the list is likely to be important.)

However, in my opinion, this issue should not be given out at all to nations with no internet.

I remember now. a headline said that the Internet was back online after changing to digital currency, with no effects on rights. Does that mean that I had some kind of fake internet which was enough to trigger #37, which subsequently turned it into the real thing?

2. "We can't just destroy these creatures!" exclaimed @@RANDOMNAME@@, owner of @@NAME@@'s biggest safari park. "They may look ugly to you, but I think they're just beautiful. We need to study them and understand them; think of what we could learn! These wonderful beasts may be a little harmful to the environment, but think of the people who will flock to see them! It would be an educational experience! Think of the money!"

Underlining mine.
My guess would be that the hybrids are rather ugly, and destroy any good looking environment that you might have, thus making your country more "ugly".

Based on his recent happenings, it looks like he's talking about #481 Social Equality Reaching Embarrassing Levels, though it also looks like he chose option 5 (that's the one that features a bus driver), not 2 like he claims.

Also, the difference between options 2 and 5 is pretty clear. It's options 3 and 5 that look to me like they're suggesting rather similar things.

However, this thread is for reporting unexpected or unreasonable results on issues that you've seen, not asking for possible results on issues that you haven't even tried and so can't know are incorrect. A vague question like this is really not something we can help with.

Can't just plant your seeds wherever you want to anymore - you gotta follow all these rules and regulations and stuff. Persnickety laws gettin' all up in your grill telling you you have to have a permit, or a lease, or a deed or somethin'. I tell you, this land ain't what it used to be. Smh
