Political Freedoms Nose Dive

Postby Kanaia » Mon Jan 26, 2015 3:44 pm

Why did my political freedoms take a 29 point dip in what appears to be one day?
These are the laws enacted still on my history:
5 hours ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, the national guard is mobilized whenever a mother gets separated from her child at the mall.
5 hours ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, police officers spend more time on calisthenics than actually catching criminals.
5 hours ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, millions of Adrians have been thrown into a project to find the cure for Mad Oliphant Disease.
3 days 16 hours ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, people are arrested for looking too sternly at whales.
4 days ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, citizens are allowed to rise or fall based on their own merits.
4 days ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, some members of Parliament are illiterate.
5 days ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, consumption of cat memes has skyrocketed.
5 days ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, foreign 'investors' have been taking a great interest in the new secret shuttle.
6 days ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, Kanaia's children are widely acknowledged as the most foul-mouthed in the region.
6 days ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, surrealist houses shaped like mushrooms and volcanoes dominate the wealthiest neighborhoods.

Seems like this "5 hours ago: Following new legislation in Kanaia, millions of Adrians have been thrown into a project to find the cure for Mad Oliphant Disease." From the way the outcome is worded, it seems as though your throwing people against their will, to find a cure for a disease. Which would lower your civil and political rights by a nice some.

Four days ago you selected this option of Issue #360:

"4."You're missing the whole point of democracy," argues a strange woman wearing a toga. "Democracy is about equality! The best system of representation is sortition. Go back to the ancient way of doing things and pick representatives from among the common citizens through allotment. People who run for political office are usually untrustworthy and power-hungry. Randomly-selected citizens will make far better decisions than greedy politicians, even if they're a little incompetent. Lottocracy all the way!""
