We currently have a great Issues team, which is working hard to add to and improve NationStates daily issues. However, some of our Editors have found themselves busy with RL, and we're also focusing on a number of improvements we're making to the game - including such things as wondrous new Industries and freshly-funded Government departments. We're therefore looking to add a small number of Issues Editors to the team, to allow us to keep adding new issues to the game at a regular pace.
We've run a couple of Issues Contests before, and while they're a lot of work, they've been worth it for the Editors we've unearthed. This is a contest with the potential for multiple winners (or none at all; it depends how good the entrants are).
How do I enter?
Pretty simple: Write a new, original daily issue according to the official guidelines and email it to sedgistan@nationstates.net .
There is a limit of one entry per contestant. Please include your nation name with your submission.
What happens then?
If your submission shows promise, I will send you an e-mail and go over your issue, raising points, giving advice, et cetera. If we decide to take things further, you will get the chance to edit some issues - initially over email, under my guidance. Should this work out, then you will get the chance to become a fully-fledged Issues Editor.
If your submission doesn't show promise to me, then I'll send you an e-mail telling you that you have been declined.
What's in it for me?
Winners will get their submission put into the game. They'll also have the glory (infamy?) of being credited on every issue they edit, and a delightful sludge-coloured badge on your nation page:

If I win, what will I be expected to do exactly?
Issues Editors work on player-submitted issues, editing them so they're up to the required standard to be in the game. There's no need to worry about deadlines, you're free to complete them at your own pace (after all, nobody holds the rest of us to a deadline!) Hopefully you'll find the experience and skill-developing involved its own reward.
How long do I have to submit my issue?
Given how long issues can take to write and tweak to perfection, plus accounting for real life, the deadline for the contest is December 31st, 2014. Given that there is no set number of Editors that we are looking for, submissions may receive a response then. However, there is no need to rush, so feel free to send your submission right up to the deadline.
How do I write a good issue?
The best place to start is the list of existing issues helpfully maintained by Andacantra. It'll give you an idea of what a NationStates issue should look like, and will help you avoid duplicating an existing issue.
It's recommended all aspiring issue writers check out Sirocco's How To Write An Issue thread as well.
Common misteaks are to make basic spelling/grammar errors, fail to format the issue according to the guidelines, or duplicate existing issues. Take care to avoid these.
Feel free to post any questions or comments.
