game error?

Postby Phoenia- » Sun Oct 18, 2009 10:09 am

"the government is notorious for leaving citizens with almost nothing from their inheritance"

This beeing the comment after I passed the issue regarding the inheritance choising the "moderate" (third one) option. If there's anyone who remember the issue, is this all right, or is it a mistake? "political freedom" then got down, I don't see it fits so much. Is there a "bug" or is it the normal response?

You chose:
3. "Surely we can arrange some sort of compromise here," says comfortable knitwear fan @@RANDOMNAME@@. "Yes, it's true that some people exploit the system - but a lot of people rely on inheritance for their basic support! Why don't we just set a sensible ceiling on how much you can inherit? That way you get to keep the family farm, but not the five mansions and the oil refinery."

So, people are left with just basic support from an inheritance. Apparently, basic support isn't all that much.

It is just a normal response. i picked the same one thinking it perfectly understandable. but people have really low inheritance.

Hope This Helps!

thank you so. Such expression as "compromise" and "comfortable knitwear" made me prospect other consequence. But it's just excess in irony in the comment, I understand.

The description tags your nation gets after answering issues are never bugs. The same response to the same issue will always generate the same description. This is pretty much always either straightforwardly explained in the issue itself (i.e. choose an option to drastically lower taxes, description says massive tax cuts have been enacted) or predictable (i.e. choose that same option to lower taxes, description says that the government is short of funds for the coming year). They may make your nation weird, and do drastic things to your freedoms/budget priorities/tax rate/cheese consumption/atheism/whatever; Answering issues will screw with your stats and description in interesting ways, and depending on your options you may run the risk of becoming an economic basketcase, a psychotic dictatorship, or a coven of Sweet Tentacley Violet. This is a feature, not a bug.

Now, if it started randomly telling you that all religion has been banned when you chose to cut inheritances, or suddenly made you the most polluted nation in the world when you were doing pretty well on the environment before, or anything like that...then it'd be best to make a trip over to technical to file a bug report.

I wish I remember who wrote:Games like Nationstates are like a big cardboard box, and there are two kinds of people in the world. The kind who look at the empty void inside the box and ask "Where the hell is it?" and the kind who jump into the box with their friends and make it into a fort, or a spaceship.
