This has me thinking: are there any issues about what to do with outdated military equipment?

Outdated warheads in Issue #444, outdated detection equipment(likely not what you're looking for, but) in Issue #1080, outdated tactics in Issue #810, outdated police equipment in Issue #98, poor maintenance of a battleship in Issue #434, and bayonets in the military in Issue #1035.

Oh, and don't forget Issue #1005.

I think #854 fits better than most of the examples you listed, except #1005.

Yep missed that one.

Funnily enough, I don’t recall seeing that issue before.

I was thinking moreso the military has a surplus of old equipment that they want to get rid of.

You probably wouldn't. It's only assigned to nations with low Scientific Advancement.

Cretox State wrote:I was thinking moreso the military has a surplus of old equipment that they want to get rid of.
That sounds vaguely familiar, but I think it's just a bunch of issues with one sorta-matching option each, not a whole issue exploring that subject. At least, I can't remember or find it.

Oh, I didn't see this. Well, someone holding a butter knife and walking towards someone probably would pose a threat to them and justify (sort of) the shooting, no? At least, in the case of your second option. However, I'd just like to note that this is similar sort of to Issue #488 in which the difference would be a police officer shooting a child with a toy gun. In this case, the premise is practically the same - a person holding something that resembles a weapon is shot and killed. There's quite a lot of overlap here, particularly since several issues already cover the "gun control" side of things.

Yep - don't be discouraged though, it's only a problem with the premise situation. If you've got an idea, try and see what you can do to twist it into your own issue! And even if it ends up failing, it's always good to get experience writing and editing your own drafts.

I was thinking about a follow up issue to 1208.2 about keeping attendance for virtual schools.

Does this sound like any preexisting issue?

What do you mean? Online schools having trouble making sure that their students log on to their class when they're supposed to? That's not hugely different from conventional schools making sure students show up for class (which I don't think we have an issue about either, though we have one about more serious misbehaviour by schoolchildren), which is generally considered at least partially the parents' responsibility. Though I guess that once you're there, it's easier to log back out of a chatroom than it is to sneak out of a physical building.

A mix of both - students clearly not paying attention or putting in effort during virtual meetings/classes and also decreased overall attendance, perhaps as a result of lack of accessibility rather than laziness to prevent overlap with the issue you cited.

There is an issue about internet accessibility, which mentions schools tangentially (one option only).

Several, though the topic you're mentioning is quite broad. The one that comes to mind on self-defense getting out of hand is Issue #1235(one of my personal favorites :p ).

Hi! So, I've decided to prowl around here for a while. I've nothing to do these days, so maybe writing issues would be one way of productively using the free time.
I have never written any issues before, but I have a few ideas up in mind. I hope I can contribute to this area of the website, and I can't wait to start writing issues!

Ugh, I'm trying to do a first draft of a cloning issue regarding someone cloned without their express knowledge/consent and I really want to lead into this gag where the offending party has a bunch of people who look "suspiciously similar" to the person who was cloned.

I literally have no idea how to set that up, though. My original thought was have it be their lawyer in a trial, but the question keeps popping up "why would @@LEADER@@ be at a trial. Very annoying.

Maybe it’s in @@LEADER@@‘s office, and people who look the same just keep on coming in? Although that may be tricky to execute well, I agree.

The crux would be nonconsensual cloning and what to do about it. The people looking oddly similar is just an off-joke in the middle of an option, to imply this isn't the first time the accused has done it.

Forgive me if I'm turning into a grumpy old sod (or one that has completely misinterpreted my early days on this site), but when did we drop the convention that issues were supposed to be written about "evergreen" topics rather than contemporary real-world trends? Not that I necessarily have a problem :p

Note: This is not an answer, this is just a guess:
presumably when a) we passed a thousand issues and needed more stuff to talk about, b) the popularity of NS as a whole grew a ton, c) the concepts that NS might not be around in several decades (if it is, its historical precedent still relevant as history tends to repeat itself and most people would still remember those things)and the fact that NS is a web game on the internet which in of itself is a really modern invention may've kicked in, d) new people existed, and e) people realized it's just a ton of fun to satirize irl ongoings.
Here is a list containing a bunch of factbooks I created that are Got Issues? related.
