For nations with enforced nudity, think an issue about death by sunburn would work? It is in the death pie chart, and I am thinking it doesn’t have to be (and perhaps shouldn’t be) a reversal. I am thinking mandatory sunscreen, finding a sun parasol industry, and sleeping and night and working during the day could be the options. The first is a bit authoritarian, and the later two are not entirely sound either, but i figure nations with enforced nudity likely are not playing with rational policy in mind anyway.

Hmm... I think that an issue related to the number of people made ill/dying in summer due sunburn or catching sunstroke due to compulsory nudity might be interesting.

Issue 8 has the proponent with "an nasty case of sunburn", so it might make a nice bit of referential humour.

I think it's a nice way to work the visible stats into the story.

When considering your options, be aware that there have been a couple of drafts based around the opposite problem of cold weather. I don't say this to discourage you, because I think the idea is a potentially nice niche issue.

I'm just saying to be aware so that you can minimise the risks of overlap.

EDIT: By the way, here are some links I tracked down to help ground your story (if you're worried about realism for your issue):
The sun and cancer: https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/about-cancer/causes-of-cancer/sun-uv-and-cancer/how-the-sun-and-uv-cause-cancer
Sun poisoning: https://www.webmd.com/skin-problems-and-treatments/sun-poisoning#1
Sun and Sunburn https://patient.info/health/sun-and-sunburn

While you don't have to look (needless to say), I often find that reading around a subject can help trigger option ideas.

Slow! Ha!

Back in my day it'd be months before topics were moved off the first page. The current latest post on the first page is from last Saturday!

I think we're doing fine :P It's the middle/height of summer!

mind my asking if it's still in the pool? I think it was by He Qixin...

If you're under fire in the no-man's land of WW1, you start digging a foxhole even if the ideal time would be when you *aren't* being bombarded, because once you wait for it to be 'time', other situations will need your attention, assuming you survive that long. Huh... kinda glad, tbh.

Cloth bags are a thing.

In fact I was gonna write about the energy/material costs of those, but if you want to, Chan, you can; I've got plenty enough issue drafts atm to burn through.

ed: Perhaps an option could be to ban plastic straws or plastic clothes or something.

I think the answer to this is no, but is it possible to pull a statistic from your nation, like referencing the % that die due to sunburn? I am assuming if I want to talk about that, I will have to use a vague "alarmingly high" or "increasing", but it would be fun if the actual number could be used.

Noted, but it's one thing we're very aware of needing to be unbiased on, as Forest seems to be the home of so many folk interested in Issues Writing. General rule is that if at all possible, an Editor unaffiliated with a potentiate's home region must run the new editor trial.

Of course, in actuality it's mostly the other way round that things work. Editors (myself included) have moved to Forest to hang out with other editors. I was in 10,000 Islands when I was added to the team.
