Appreciate you looking out :-)
The phrase "Is our children learning?" is a quote from George W. Bush, who had just left office at US President at the time the issue in question was published. It had significant cultural currency in the first decade of the 2000s, as a source of humor due to being one of numerous "irregular" uses of language associated with him.

The dialogue portions of issues are written to reflect the ways those speakers actually speak, which includes dialectal speech. Anything that's being placed in quotation marks is subject to that. "Me and the gang" is incorrect, of course, but is an extremely common real-world usage in some circles. Things end up being extremely dull when all the speakers sound the same - something that can occur when they're all using equally educated and proper language. This is a feedback note we often give to authors, especially newer ones - the speakers should sound like themselves, not like each other!
The portion of an issue where we're generally going to be concerned about this kind of thing is the initial text - the part at the top captioned simply "The Issue." This is the neutral, by-the-book description of a situation, and we like to try and have that be as clean as possible. The dialogue tags in the options also should also be clean, for the most part. Once it's in quotation marks though, it has moved out of the English classroom and into the world of how people actually talk.

Oh, okay, got it. Also, how do you become an issue editor? I want to try. Is there some sort of qualification?

You shouldn't put too much stock in becoming an editor. If you end up becoming one, great! Cool! I'd be happy for you. But try writing issues for the funzies, (and the badge is great for card rarity), so you can help NS. Maybe you should write an issue first, though.

I do have a recent ban on computers, but there's nothing in the issue results site about #561 lifting a ban on computers. Should this issue have arisen for me? It makes sense, but should it have happened? Can someone review this?
