No. 492: The Artwork in the Attic

“Pay to see them!” gasps Declan Gutenberg, the Maxtopian Minister of Culture and part-time art critic. “There are paintings of great historical and cultural value to my country in that collection! They should be returned to Maxtopia with all due haste! Just imagine ‘The Fall of St. Barrysburg’ hanging on the walls of the Maxtopian National Museum in the very room where it was painted by Whilhelm Daniel Negan as the noises of war reached his ears from outside his study. Does it not stir your soul?”

So was the museum the artist's studio? Because that's kind of a strange choice for an art studio.

I always got the impression that it was a former artists' studio that has been restored and preserved as a museum, perhaps similar to Monet's former home at Giverny (only with the original pieces).

The fact that the national museum is the artist's former studio really shows how important that artist is to the Maxtopians. Too bad I didn't choose that answer. :p

Is 440.1 supposed to say the West Pacific, or is it supposed to be @@REGION@@ with a mistake?

Well-spotted. You're right, and that will be fixed soon.

That's supposed to be the "West Pacific", it's a play on the film "Once Upon A Time in the West".

I don’t know if this belongs somewhere else...

Issue 883 is not consistent with previous issues. Mesozoic Park is on a remote island, not @@CAPITAL@@. It is therefore assuming @@CAPITAL@@ is on a remote island, obviously a terrible assumption.

Good point!

Will make some tweaks.

Now reads:

Mesozoic Park, the largest dinosaur zoo in the country, has made the headlines for yet another disastrous dinosaur escape. Apparently, the gate of a Tyrannosaurus Rex pen malfunctioned, giving the horde of formerly captive reptiles a window to flee their enclosure. The liberated T-Rex horde then proceeded to cross in an ill-advised tunnel link to the mainland, stowed away on a freight train driven by a truly oblivious driver, and somehow ended up on a rampage through @@CAPITAL@@, killing hundreds and wrecking city infrastructure. Following the crisis, many citizens are calling for the closure of dinosaur zoos.

Issue 264 - Not a Drop to Drink

Postby Paradiosa » Fri Jan 26, 2018 9:47 am

I received this issue about a huge drought in my country. But my environmental beauty points is 977.56. Also I have a eco-friendliness rating of 1,104.52. I think I shouldn't experience a draught so that I have to ration or import water.

There's no validity check on that issue. I don't think there should be either. Great environment doesn't mean immunity to natural phenomena.

Every nation has education in it. Some nations, however, don't give public funding to it.

For sure you can have your personal headcanon that your nation doesn't have schools in any form, in which case you can self-filter with the dismiss button. However, its a reasonable assumption for Issues that schools exist, whether privately funded, state funded or both.

I’m assuming this isn’t a mistake simply in the recording of the issue. 884 says that your brother “related it to the family in gory detail” or something along those lines. Shouldn’t that be relayed? Or is it a typo in the issue records?

The extra "the" is fixed. Disagree with you on the interrobang, though.

By the way, no problem, CWA. The new way is much better.

"Related" and "relayed" are both equally acceptable here.

Cheers, actually its fine in the issue, I just cut and pasted badly to the thread.
edit: Actually looks like Joy fixed it!
