“There’s a simple solution,” says Pastor Felix, of the Catholic Church. “Divorce should be illegal. ‘For better or worse,’ anyone remember how that goes? We should return to the good old days, when you got married for life and stuck by your partner no matter how much of a drunken, abusive, adulterating disappointment they turned out to be.”

Shouldn't that be "adulterous", rather than "adulterating"? The latter term actually has a different meaning, which doesn't seem particularly relevant in this context...

Well, those were Max's words, and I always assumed it was a deliberate error to humorously evoke a Deep South style of speech.

Sorry, you've lost me. Checked again and look to have made the fixes you've flagged. What did I miss?

Lol, he means you should have typed "Thanks, fixed."

You forgot the comma.

Well, I guess this is a meta-correction. :p

Oh right.

Yeah, there's no need to fix grammar on forum posts. Cheers.

heh, I think if they considered it their remit to fix grammar of forum posts, you'd need several hundred more moderators.

I would need a dedicated moderator for my posts alone.

Back on-topic:

#780's effect line, "sweet-toothed @@MACRO@@ have been left penniless by the VAT on candy", incorrectly uses @@DEMONYMADJECTIVEPLURAL@@ instead of @@DEMONYMNOUNPLURAL@@. (Citation: Greater Dragunovia got "Holy Romans" rather than "Germans", Teutionia got "Teutonics" instead of "Teutonians".)

See, this is why I always insist on typing @@DEMONYMADJECTIVE@@ in full, no matter what poorly-thought-out macro names have been grandfathered in editorside. Giving the macros unclear names just encourages sloppiness.

I really think you should pester [violet] to implement an automatic filter for detecting and rejecting instances of @@DEMONYMADJECTIVEPLURAL@@, anyway. Do you know how annoying it is to check for these with just the data I have access to?

Fixed.

Re an automated search, it's actually much easier to do so manually with ctrl+f

There were additional instances in A Lack Of Comma Sense and Pipe Down Already, which I have now fixed.

An extract from Option 768.1: "How about you all drink Eckie-cola from now on, instead?"

Shouldn't Eckie-cola be Eckie-Ecola?

We aren't very consistent about it. About half the issue mentioning it go Eckie-ecola and the other half Eckie-cola. Eckie-ecola does appear to be the original way.

Issue #779

The outcome for choosing option 3 is "a new religious movement claims that people's souls are stored in phosphorous". It should probably be "phosphorus".

Maybe there should be an issue about it, where Eckie-ecola are saying that Eckie-cola are infringing on their brand name. Eckie-ecola could be the original trademark holders, and eckie-cola the more recognised newcomers. :)

Ah, lookie here! https://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=88&p=12257524&hilit=World+Assembly+Woes#p12257524

Apparently there's a comma after CHILDREN", after the ", instead of before.

Is that indeed a problem in the issue itself, or was it just a typo in the posts themselves?

Edit: Also,
Eckie-ecola could be the original trademark holders, and eckie-cola the more recognised newcomer
I'm all for this. Want me to write up a draft of this? :P

Edit: Also, you'll have to scroll up just a bit. I was looking up world assembly issues... for some reason, and found something wrong in Drasnia's post,
so I searched World Assembly Woes and found that, but the issue itself is posted slightly beforehand, by an ex-nation.

Issue 59: "Drunk Driving on the Rise"

The Issue
More and more, citizens are drinking before getting behind the wheel. A group of concerned citizens wants something done.

I don't think there should be a comma after more. It should be "More and more citizens are drinking before getting behind the wheel."

That's a valid way to say it, but the current way is also grammatically correct. "More and more" means that something is becoming increasingly common.

No matter whether you have the comma or not, the meaning stays the same. In this case "More and more," is a phrase that means "increasingly common" while "more and more" indicates an increase in quantity. It's a purely stylistic/semantic choice that, IMO, doesn't need changing.

Edit: ninja'd

After all unicameralism

Issue #560, option 3. I believe a comma is supposed to appear after all, yes? Or am I mistaking in this? :P
Speaking of commas, just reposting this in case it got glanced over*:
Apparently there's a comma after CHILDREN", after the ", instead of before.

Second option of issue #132.

Yep, agree. Changed.

No, the comma is before the closing quote mark. A check of the changes log shows this has always been the case as well.

Issue 684: Murder Most Deniable?

Option 4 result: @@DEMONYMADJECTIVE@@s struggle to cut steak with a spoon.

Shouldn't it be @@DEMONYMPLURAL@@? My nation is one where the adjective (Bedetopian) is different from the noun (Abductee), I find it more logical to have "Abductees struggle", it refers to the inhabitants.
