If you claim to be religious but don’t control your tongue, you are fooling yourself, and your religion is worthless. Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you. | Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’

Issue #474

Postby Fresh-avaca-do » Tue Mar 14, 2017 5:55 am

Issue #474 is missing the "3." number point. This made me select the wrong option, thus decreasing my trout industry. :(

What? If I'm correct in interpreting this, some options have validity criteria based on your nation which determine whether the option shows up or not.

Under issue 42, one of the options ends with "promote the arts". However, given that tax rates are basically unaffected by this option, I'm guessing that it should be more accurately written as "hands off the arts"?

Issue 53: Orbital Armageddon has some weird capitalisations, at least according to the Spoiler thread.

2. Noted Scientist and pacifist writer @@RANDOMNAME@@ thinks otherwise, "No! Space is a place for peace! It's the only place left we've got that we haven't screwed up. Oh, the space program still needs funding, don't get me wrong, but none of this 'military in space' stuff will do! We ought to divert funding from the military to education and space research instead!"

3. Fringe Group Leader @@RANDOMNAME@@ disagrees, "Space is a total waste of time. We should spend more on stuff people actually CARE about. Like voting rights and protecting the environment! Forget that fancy-schmancy space station!"

Shouldn't 'Scientist' be lowercase? And the same for 'Fringe Group Leader'? I get that they are the titles of the characters, but as they aren't really proper nouns, they don't deserve the capital, right? Also something about the way they talk seems off. 'thinks otherwise, "No!...' doesn't seem like a way to talk. 'Thinking otherwise ' isn't a manner of speaking. Perhaps 'thinks otherwise, saying, "No!...' would be better? And the same for Option 3?

The 'saying' is implied. It's a way to alternate showing who is speaking.

Decapitalized both though.

Actually, looks like those are already lowercase in the issue base.

You're complaining about the fine detail grammar of the in-character words of a character that is explicitly noted to be "grammatically-challenged"? I mean, really?

It's fine, I think, as not all government initiatives have to be off a sufficient magnitude to meet the threshold for a visible spending increase. I might have put a small government spend on that myself, but I don't think it's incorrect, just a matter of interpretation.

Why does 161.2 decrease average income? Wouldn't not taking away someone's inheritance increase average income?

It doesn't. The 350 currency shift you saw (from 167700 to 167350 dollarydoos) is basically just due to rounding errors and the like. Main thing that happened is you increased the economic freedom of folk to keep their own wealth, but economic freedom has a knock on effect on so many calculations that you say a load of tiny shifts as the result of that.

You can usually disregard changes that small as being incidental. That goes not just for incomes, but for pretty much every stat in the game.

Issue 648 in the description this sentence sounds wrong:
During questioning, it became apparent that she had already guiltily confessed her crimes in great detail ten years ago, but only to a local priest

I think if you just get rid of the word guilty the sentence sounds fine, but that is just my opinion.

Edit: On second (well actually third look), I realized I read the sentence wrong. My brain was reading guilty where it says guiltily :P

Issue 599, option 3:

"Oblige the farmers to add chlorine bleach to the water supply in proportion to the fertilizers they use, and your rivers and seas will boast crystal clear water!"

That is not how bleach works. At best, this would turn the water from murky brown to cloudy white.

#692:

one of the aircraft's engine
Should be "engines".

just because one person thought it was a fun idea to stick their head inside
"One" person is not a "them" >:(

don't throw the baby out with the bath water
I usually see "bathwater" as one word.

food laden drone
Should be "food-laden".

Now that's a point of grammatical contention. IMO, it's perfectly acceptable to use they/them as a singular pronoun in order to avoid using a gendered pronoun. Of course it's a divisive subject and I know plenty of people will disagree.
