There's currently 984 nations that call themselves America in the Nationstates world, and that's just with that exact spelling. I'm sure there's more than one Tasmania.

#519 School's Out (Of Control) - I'm not sure how this happened as I could have sworn it did not have this mistake previously. In the description there appears to now be missing an 'a' in "leading to a three day siege"

#655 capitalizes "Tyrannosaurs" but not "gorgosaurus", "pentaceratops", or "apatosaurus". It's ambiguous whether the former should be (since it's an informal English term), but the latter should definitely be (since they're formal genus names). Especially the fossil - I guess people might start treating animals with less reverence while they're actually alive, but I recall that the previous dinosaur-cloning issue did capitalize them.

It's probably not even worth addressing "Sic semper tyrannosaurus!", what with it being a pun and all (and Latin not having had a capital/lowercase distinction in Roman times). But if you care, the correct Latin is "Sic semper tyrannosauris!" (dative inflection).

For issue #657, in the first option the word "the" is repeated twice: "Not only us floor-crossing a betrayal of the the party..."

Capitalized the shit out of some dinosaur genera. Italicized them too.

For issue #551, if you choose option 1 the result is 'the media have began calling the government treasury "@@LEADER@@'s stash"'. Should be 'have begun'.

The spellings are interchangeable.

EDIT: I should also add that "advisor" is only more prominent (and only somewhat) in casual American English. Even in American journals, "adviser" is used about five times more often that "advisor." "Adviser" is the primary spelling in practically every English dictionary - even the American-centric Merriam-Webster dictionary.

Well covered there, Drasnia.

It's worth noting as well that the NS editing team doesn't have a style guide for grammar and spelling - it's the first thing I asked. The general rule of thumb is to try to use the preferred spelling of the author's nation, using existing spellings within their submission as a guide. So when I get an issue that is in American English, I tend to use American spellings, despite being British myself. One concession I have made for the sake of consistency is to always use serial commas in lists, which is not the usual practice at all in England. There's also some weird conventions that we've adapted ourselves, like interrupted speech usually having a full stop somewhere near the middle. (e.g. "Words," I said. "Lots of words." rather than "Words," I said, "lots of words.") This is probably because options tend to be longer than what a novel writer would usually put in one line of speech.

Basically, as long as the grammar or spelling is considered correct somewhere, we're happy with it. We just play it by ear.

Or, in this more gender-aware age, I should say "moved in line with traditional gender expectations that sadly still exist."

Believe I found a grammatical error with issue 522 in the description. The possible issue is bolded and underlined.
It’s a slow news day, and so a recent study by the Scientific Centre of Analytical Metadata is getting considerable attention. "Clime" is an obscure word, but it's real. It means something between "place" and "kind of place", so when in the plural it has a connotation of diversity.

Unexpected effects normally go in a different thread:
viewtopic.php?f=13&t=370351

This thread is for correcting visible objective errors, usually in grammar or spelling.

Anyway, short answer is that the changes are secondary to other effects, notably, being pro-astronomy makes you more pro-science generally, and thus less primitive.
