Aint exactly an issue but this is from your how to write an issue thread: "Welcome! Since the issue submission system was added in 2003, over 600 issues (and counting!) written by players and staff have been added to the game. This guide is to improve your chances at getting your issue accepted alongside them. Take a look at already-accepted issues issues and you'll soon pick up the style and feel of what we are looking for."

The thing is that there are some government departments that are too characteristic for a nation's modus operandi, because a nation can wipe them out by answering some issues in a specific way (e.g. Defence, International Aid, Welfare etc.). So, apart from a direct mention to a 'defense budget' for a nation with 0% in Defence, isn't it also unnatural that nations with 0% Welfare keep getting Issue #255, which explicitly presupposes the existence of governmental welfare?

Unless they also have Corruption at 0%, there's probably still 'welfare' for members of the government itself even if there's none for anybody else...

I agree this issue should only be valid for nations with welfare spending. I will bring up changing this backstage.

Some new effect lines:

Should be either "the interest rate mysteriously drops" or "interest rates mysteriously drop".

(I'm waiting the main issue text to see what that CB@@MACRO@@ stuff stands for. The Catham Islands got CI rather than TCI or C, making me think it has to be @@DEMONYMNOUN@@ or @@DEMONYMNOUNPLURAL@@, not @@NAME@@.)

I got the Central Bank of Drasnia and CBD. It may be a macro that's been coded to take the first initial of a nation name while disregarding "the".

#717.2
Give War A Chance BBQ sauce-stained trucker hat
The adjective order should be "BBQ sauce-stained Give War A Chance trucker hat.

#717.3
Give Multilateral Diplomacy, Without Ruling Out The Possibility Of Surgical Military Action, A Chance tie-pin
I feel the Give Multilateral . . . Action bit should be italicized or put in quotation marks (as well as the Give War A Chance bit) though I don't think there's any actual rule for it. It would just make it a bit clearer.

Give Us Healthcare or Give Us Death

Postby NordStalland » Sun Apr 23, 2017 10:47 pm

I chose to give government provided Healthcare to all citizens, yet the result added door to door insurance sales as a contribution to my economy. This makes no sense as there is no need for insurance for citizens.

Could've sworn I wrote "rate". Because I was thinking to myself, "better get this right, or else Trotterdam is bound to complain about it" :) Better drop that sneaky "s" then.

They're all already in italics. Did they not show up like that for you?

Umm, I don't think they did though I honestly can't remember. Maybe I was just thinking about it after I posted it in the spoiler thread

Mathematics gives.

You had the smallest possible primary coded effect to the IT industry applied to you. However, your nation is teeny weeny tiny with no IT industry prior to this, so you went from 0 to a small negative number (and in NS things like government departments can be paradoxically negative to represent resistance to reinstating that thing). Going from 0 to any negative number (be it -1 or -1000) would be a -100% change.

For more perspective, look at your nations rankings in each stat, and how much your world position shifted due to that decision.

In your early game, you're going to see a lot of dramatic shifts. Don't look on these as actual transformations in your country, but rather the simulation gathering information and closing in its estimate on what your nations stats are. Once you're about a hundred answered issues in, things should be more stable and representative of changes in response to your decisions.

I'd prefer it if you refrain from reporting unexpected effects till then, as honestly we don't have the time or inclination to handhold every new nation through the eccentricities of the simulation.

#719:
3. "Burn them? Letting them rot in some dank university closet?"
These two verbs have different tenses. I think it would read more smoothly if it were either "burn" and "let", or "burning" and "letting".

Issue 720: "Cui Bono"

“I say unto to you that the answer is more welfare, not less!” offers unemployed youth Hermione Violetsglory, pushing a shopping trolley of ammonium nitrate and diesel oil to the checkout till. “If you increase welfare, then maybe the resentful disenfranchised minorities will feel more supported by society, and become less prone to radicalisation. What have you got to lose?”

Since 'unto' is an archaic way of saying 'to', the 'to' is redundant. So it should be "I say unto you".

The last option was to encourage the tourists to become citizens, which I chose, and then I saw my Timber Woodchipping Industry go up almost 4000%? It just seemed like an odd interaction, given most of my industries are already quite massive. Not sure if intended or a bug, so I figured I would report it here.

This would be the proper thread for that (for future reference): viewtopic.php?f=13&t=370351

1) Your name color is beautiful! I don't rightful know what a P2TM RP Mentor does but your color makes me want to be one.

2) Lord Dominator is correct on which thread this goes in.

3) Percentages can be misleading (see here: https://www.nationstates.net/nation=can ... /id=743331) your woodchipping industry went from -4.47 -> 133.18 In reality this isn't a huge movement (133.18 is still quite low) but because you started at very low number it ended up being an enormous percentage.
