Attempted Coup issue

Postby Greater Americania » Mon Sep 07, 2009 10:39 am

Attempted Coup

[option]"Off with his head!" screams traditional conservative @@RANDOMNAME@@. "He has attempted to rob the people of this nation of their freedom! It is the government's duty to take his life!"
[effect]The infamous usurping officer was hung for all opponents of democracy to see.
[stats]Political and economic freedoms will increase

[option]"Let's not resort to violence now..." suggests Pacifist and Liberal @@RANDOMNAME@@. "He should be given life in prison. After all, when has the death penalty ever gotten us anywhere?"
[effect]The infamous usurping officer was handed down 8 consecutive life sentences after he was found guilty in federal court.
[stats]Civil Rights increases.

[option]"Now is our chance!" exclaims your ambitious Secretary of State. "Declare the nation is in a state of emergency! Suspend elections! Declare martial law! Never again will we have to worry about the opinion of the people! As for the officer, just quietly dispose of him...everyone will forget about him when we order him out of the media."
[effect]Interest in the fate of the infamous usurping officer is quickly forgotten as the President uses him as an excuse to declare himself Dictator-For-Life.
[stats] Political freedoms significantly drop.

[option]"You see, this is why government should be abolished entirely!" exclaims 8th Grader @@RANDOMNAME@@. "If there was no government then there would be nothing to coup."
[effect]The anarchist movement grows significantly as a result of the attempted coup both amongst the people and amongst government officials.
[stats]Political Freedoms will greatly increase.

------------------------------------------------------

This is something I came up with quite a while back. I submitted it on both NS2 and NS1, but nothing ever became of it. I'd like to hear what you think of it personally.

Oh yes, also this issue was meant entirely for democratic countries.
