Corporations Demand Political Say...Help

Postby Tallpines » Sat Aug 29, 2009 10:07 pm

Just recieved this issue and can't decide what the best choice is:

The Issue
A well-heeled lobby group is pushing for the elimination of regulations that prevent corporations from donating money to political parties.

The Debate
"This is supposed to be a democratic country," Trout Farming industry spokesperson Violet O'Bannon says. "Yet these archaic laws say I can't donate money to support a political party. They put ceilings on the amount any party can spend on advertising. It's time to stop treating voters like children, and trust them to make up their own minds. Free the ballot box!"

"You say political freedom, I hear vote-buying," says popular anarchist Beth Mistletoe. "If these fat cats get their way, politicians will buy their own seat in Congress. And let's face it, a slick advertising campaign can convince a lot of apathetic voters. We need to tighten the laws, not repeal them. Money should have no place in politics!"

"Frankly, I don't see why we need to have elections at all," says your brother, Charles Jones, over a late-night malt whiskey. "You always seem to know what's best. Why not scrap the whole political system? It would make things so much simpler."

Can someone give me a small insight into what the different options could lead to??

You'll want #2. You're socialist, and that's the socialist option.

Dear God, imagine a date with Bluth Corporation:

Date: "Do you mind paying, or do you want to split the bill?"
Bluth Corporation: YOU ARE INFRINGING UPON MY UNIVERSE-DERIVED OBJECTIVE INDIVIDUALITY! MY PERSONAL SOVEREIGNTY, TAKEN FROM COMPLETELY CORRECT AND OBSERVABLE FIRST PRINCIPLES HAS BEEN VIOLATED! YOU ARE IMPOSING SOCIETAL NORMS UPON ME WHICH I REJECT AS ILLEGITIMATE! A IS A! A IS A!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Date: So... split it, then?

If you're unsure, or both positions seem too extreme, you can always dismiss the issue without worrying about consequences.
The ambassador of Aabceef humbly requests your excellency to shove it.
