Was This Deliberate?

Postby Vermmeria » Mon Jul 11, 2011 2:18 pm

Hello there, Vermmeria here again and I one of the issues that came up for me caught my eye because... well, take a look.

"I see absolutely no problem with people digging into each other at dinnertime, so long as everyone is willing," George W. Bush, the editor of the monthly magazine 'To Serve Man', quips, "Not only does it solve hunger problems and create jobs, but it also adds variety to Vermmeria's sometimes dull palette."

I'm wondering if this is a coincidence, deliberate, or does NationStates use a random name generator for its issues? George Bush, pushing for pro-cannabalism legislation...

* There is actually a War on Christmas. But Christmas started it, with it's unparalleled aggression against the Thanksgiving Holiday, and now Christmas has seized much Lebensraum in November, and are pushing into October. The rest of us seek to repel these invaders, and push them back to the status quo ante bellum Black Friday border. -Trotskylvania

Coincidence.
Removing the text from people's sigs doesn't make it any less true. I stand with Yalta.

The names vary randomly, though it's always amusing when Dubya comes up.

Didn't say it's a problem, just thought it was funny.

If I had to guess there's loads of pre-written names that are generated randomly from issue to issue. It was randomly deliberate.

Yes, one list for the forenames (not sorted by gender) & another for surnames, basically...
The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Yep, each forename and surname are paired entirely randomly whenver the @@randomname@@ code is used in an issue (which is a A LOT). However, many of the names are derived from real people, so sometimes you end up with the original pair.
