Questions about #255

Postby Denau » Mon Jun 27, 2011 10:27 pm

I was given issue #255 today, apparently, and I wanted to ask fellow nations about it.

There are five choices to make based on welfare, but I'm curious if anyone knows what the end results are for these choices. I'm looking for the least negative option for my nation, or the most beneficial (even if it has some side-effects). I'm not sure if this is where to post something of this nature, or if this is permitted, but I'd still like to know, regardless.

Of the five options, numbers 1, 2, 4, and 5 are all quite liberal or socialist in different levels. They would all improve the welfare of your citizens at the expense of higher taxes and perhaps a more authotarian style of government. Option 1 would be to increase the funds of welfare, no questions asked. Option 2 would also increase funds, but the government would monitor how it is used. Option 4 would ensure that everyone has a job, but would probably cost the most out of all the options. Option 5 would force companies to pay their employees a higher wage; this would be very detrimental to your economy.

Option 3 is a more conservative/libertarian option that would abolish welfare.

Depending if you lean more to the left or to the right in the political spectrum, options 2 or 3 should be your top two choices.

I'm trying to stay away from authoritarian. Where I'd REALLY like to end up is either "Left-leaning College State" or "Civil Rights Lovefest". I also believe welfare is kinda useful. If that's the case, would Option 1 be a good way to go instead?

Also, does anyone else have a second opinion about this topic? I realize its just a game, but its never a bad idea to read into some of these things, right?

So far, my economy is good. Not the best, but its holding up, apparently. The end result I'm hoping to attain is a nation with lots of civil rights, a fair bit of political rights, and at least a decent economy. I'm sure there are issues that will help me boost my economy later, too.

For civil rights option 4 this may hurt your economy but you can repair it with later issues.
