For a third option: Have a security advisor suggest that the reputation of the nation can't allow such crass behaviour, and that what we REALLY need is to increase government surveillance on all our politicians. Yes it will require funding, but think of the morals we'll be upholding!

This is an excellent idea - I sincerely suggest it as a third option.

Not to rain on your parade (as this clearly has potential), but I happen to know that there is an issue in the "to-edit" queue already on this issue (a friend of mine wrote it, and it doesn't fall under any obvious "let's chuck this one in the bin, because they can't spell or be civil" failures). As that one will likely be seen before yours, it may well mean that it will be coded first, and hence, because NS abhors duplication, yours may not be coded for (even if it becomes the better issue).

But surely it's like WA proposals? Just because a proposal on a topic is in the queue doesn't mean others on the same subject can't be submitted also. You never know if the first will be rejected and you may miss your chance to write one.
