Issues being repeated

Postby Demotlandia » Mon May 02, 2011 11:58 am

I have been a proud country for only a couple of months and I am already getting repeat issues. Is there any way to fix this? I have had the worst drought in centuries 3 times now and have legalized gay marriage dozens of times. Thank you for your help.

Is it possible that we can be made aware if we've gone through the issues and are now going through old ones?

The problem with that is is that not everyone qualifies for certain issues, and that can change all the time.

That wouldn't really affect, possibly, a small notification on each issue saying we've already gone through it?

That could work.

Except that for the most part, the game doesn't keep track of what issues you've received.

What about the newsfeed relating to your nation's recently installed policies? There isn't any carbon copy of that cached newsfeed lying around anywhere?

Not to my knowledge.

I think some players have mentioned that they would like a list of all of your nations policies. If you were to change the code to keep a cache of a list of policies, you could get a two-for-one'er by also keeping track of what issues you have already dealt with. You could even-- Ooh, I just got this idea, and it excited me! You could make a tab on the nation's page for a list of national laws. Lists of things that are banned, immigration policies, all kinds of things! Of course, this would require quite a bit of work. You would have to have a law entry for each policy that actually creates a law that looks or sounds official. Instead of "Immigrants are flocking to Greater Stolichnaya," you could write, "All immigrants are allowed to cross Greater Stolichnaya borders without identification or passports."

The problem is we have a history of disk space problems. Now admittedly the last one was back in 2006, but when you think about how this idea would require logging every decision made on every issue by every nation every day you can see how we could very well end up right back in the exact same place.

But we could do pie charts and line graphs for each nation... why not a small file of text for each nation as well?

Because it won't stay small. That file will be added to on a regular basis and each time that occurs the filesize grows. Now take into account that every nation would have one of those files and you can see where we could once again run into problems stemming from running out of disk space.
