Budget questions

Postby Andorianus » Mon Feb 14, 2011 2:07 pm

This is about my stats from NSTracker:
http://tracker.conquestofabsolution.com ... =&nation6=

Appearently Remedean has a much higher military then I do despite him having a worse economy then me and him spending only 29% or something on his military. As opposed to me; I am a highly militaristic nation.

I figured out it is because of taxes. His taxes are at 99%: unrealistically high. Meanwhile my taxes are at 0%: unrealistically low.

Of course the stats are flawed, that is something already well known by now. But how to fix them?

Is there any way to boost my tax rate without lowering my economic stats or my military budget? Which issues do this?

Why is 99% realistically high? It is quite common for socialist states to have absurdly high tax rates, in fact it makes a lot of sense. However, him being a capitalist country, he obviously runs some kind of corporatist society, in which all wages are "taxed", and then workers are forced to live off of the rations provided by whatever company(s) they work for. Or possibly they must shop using a corporate currency at corporate owned stores. Such communities used to exist in Appalachian mining towns during late 19th century Aemerica.

As for raising taxes, then yea, you can do that without killing your economic stats, but as for which specific issues I'm not sure. The military budget is easy to increase.

Fixed, I supposed you mean this.

99% is unrealistically high because if someone earns 1000 USD a month he can only keep 10 USD to buy food and pay bills... Which is just enough to buy one proper meal.

Anyways, not that helpful but still thanks.

Btw, Remedean does not has such a system. Like I said before, NSTracker stats are flawed...

That figure is ones INCOME taxes. Those with 100% tax will likely hand out lots of benefits to citizens (like food coupons or wages for the military and such, after all that money has to be spent on something). Likewise, a government raising 0% income tax can be regarded as obtaining its funding from non-wage taxation.

I still need help. Should I raise my spending on other areas, such as education? Or will that only divert money from economy and defence without raising taxes?

Well, it depends. Usually it will just raise your taxes to accomodate the increased spending. Some issues do divert spending from other sectors, though most of the time it will say so when you're answering the issue.

Ah, thanks. Now I'll get back to my issues again.
