And so it comes to pass that the first successful frontier in the game has been fully settled, no longer content for the world to consider it a developing battleground but instead a stable and permanently governed society.

I'm sure we'll get an update soon as to what led The Wellspring to this decision, but there's such a critically small window for speculation before we know for sure. Very interesting development.

The necessity to transition is to allow us to better tend our gardens and grow our community to better serve the needs and direction that The Wellspring is heading in. It also better fits our governmental model with myself serving as the Archdruid and Kakastania serving as our Archmage (head of executive)

In other news, I am excited to announce that in addition to this transition, we have started our very own The Wellspring Card Fund

The Wellspring Card Fund (WCF) is your chance to grow your card wealth passively while gaining the power to shape the future of the fund. Here’s how it works:

What is the WCF?
The Wellspring Card Fund is a fantasy-themed investment fund where you can contribute your cards and grow your wealth.

How to Invest:
Join our Discord and post your Deposit Slip in the appropriate channel. The gnomes will guide you through the process of sending your cards to the fund's vault at 9001. Your shares and voting power will be based on the value of your contribution!

How to Withdraw:
Ready to cash in? Exchange your shares for cards, with the option to choose a balanced mix or specific cards for a small fee.

Track Your Investment:
The gnomes have prepared a magical spreadsheet where you can follow the fund’s value, share prices, and card deck performance. Weekly reports provide insights into the fund’s growth. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... id=0#gid=0

Why Join?
- Passively grow your card wealth.
- Influence the fund's direction with your votes.
- Be part of a community-driven card fund with magical rewards.

Get started with as little as 0.23 MV in cards and join the ranks of the many investors in The Wellspring Card Fund!

The first week report can be found in our discord and I will form time to time post them here!

I’m curious how this works from a legal standpoint, regionally and internationally. Does the Archmage have the authority to transition the region? Does transitioning to a stronghold constitute a constitutional change? And why should the WASC repeal a preemptive injunction on security grounds, when less than a year ago, it was granted said injunction on security grounds? Doesn’t that create a precedent that WASC can be used as a kind of vending machine? Put a nickel in the slot and out comes an injunction, that sort of thing? Surely communities should be expected to present a justified case for an injunction and honour their reasoning.

On a practical level, it seems like a wise move for TW but it’s indicative of the obvious shortcomings of the frontier/stronghold update — regions are built up on the premise that they’re accepting risk for reward, then they cash in the reward and reduce the risk on their return. Too much risk, too little reward, and capital that’s too liquid to generate long term investing.

Legally, regionally, the Archdruid is tasked with the security of the region, including but not limited to its frontier status. The Archmage handles the day-to-day executive activities. The Archdruid is given a fairly broad toolbox and near unlimited powers with the duty to protect the community due to how The Wellspring is established and set up being a frontier however allows for someone to illegitimately take over the delegate seat and cause havoc. Switching to temporarily to a stronghold, regardless of how long temporary, is allows us to better equip the Archdruid as our constitutional monarchy.

As it would have it we are reworking parts of our constitution as some parts are not reflections of the direction we (The Wellspring) want to grow. The timing of these changing coincides with the transition however the groundwork for the reform was laid and started before the decision to transition.

The WASC should repeal the injunction for the same reasons it passed it, at the junction of time it was important that the wellspring had a protective layer from people attempting to stomp on the garden. The growth that we had under the injunction's protective light was fantastic it allowed us to lay the seeds and become established and relevant in the world stage as we found ourselves and defined what direction(s) we wanted to grow in. Now the time has come for us to venture into the next stage of development. To properly do that while reflecting on the world at large the best action is to transition to a stronghold and nurture the saplings that we are growing.

WASC has been a vending machine for the North Pacific and its Wellspring colony for a very long time, whether its the incessant self-congratulatory commendation treadmill that has been having to stretch the definition of what constitutes commendability farther and farther in order to keep the gravy train running, or the constant practice of injuncting/liberating regions and taking no military action before or afterwards yet claiming some sort of victory.

Communities cannot be expected to present a case for injunction; it is better to trot out the same boilerplate copy/pasted injunction (sometimes with severe grammar and spelling errors) as quickly as possible.

Where one can critique the GA as being too-wordy and overly rules-oriented, the SC is the opposite, and indeed could be better run by a group of 10-year-old children than the clique currently operating it. Site staff recently determined that repeals can cite resolutions entirely unrelated to anything in the repeal as one of their primary supporting clauses and still be legal, providing that they feel there is some sort of arcane numerological relationship between the resolutions.

All of the worst fears about the SC from its foundation over a decade ago have been realized and worse, and TNP and their cronies who benefit from this arrangement will simply sit smugly and tell you that its never been better than it is as a rubber-stamp for their interests.

The Amaranthine Isles proved that we don't have to raid these places directly in order to scare them into giving up their Frontier status. All we have to do is keep showing our might elsewhere, and eventually, they'll remove themselves from the equation on their own.

I appreciate the explanation, I was simply curious how the decision might interact with the regional and constitutional law.

I don’t think it’s an ideal situation in a democracy to have a select few deciding for the rest of the community the status of its governorship, but I understand the predicament.

I suppose my point is that’s it a convenient and practical arrangement for the Wellspring, but it doesn’t seem to align much with the raison d’être of the frontier/stronghold update.

Players were warned that spawns came with a trade-off: a security risk. The Wellspring collected just as many spawns as it would have had, even had it not have been injuncted, but did so with a reduced security risk, and now it’s essentially asking the WASC to cash in, to liquidate these spawns, and remove it from any remaining security risk.

I get why the Wellspring would want to pursue this course of action, but what I don’t understand is why every other frontier region wouldn’t want to do it, and why the WASC would be justified to accept the Wellspring’s requests but deny others? It feels like clientelism and I’d like to believe that the WASC should not behave as a transactional institution favouring select regions.

It feels that way because the WASC is a clientelist institution right now. If you're a client that's supporting the patrons, you get a Commend/Condemn, an author badge, or any Injuction you want. If you're not supporting the patrons, you don't get those things. And if the patrons are hostile towards you, you're in for it.

The Wellspring has been the de facto Frontier of the North Pacific, one of the patrons of the WASC. So, of course they'll get what they want from that body. To oppose them would be to throw away any chance you have of future rewards, or worse, to be targeted by both the patrons and their loyal clients.

Wellspring Fund - Weekly Report
Date: September 21, 2024

Greetings from the diligent banking gnomes of the Wellspring Fund! Below is the latest magical overview of our treasure trove:

Fund Overview:
Gnome Vault Balance: $937.02
Deck Capacity: 1,250
Deck Value: $26,862.4
Fund Name: 9001
Total Cards: 1,090
Global Rank: 83, Region Rank: 2

Shareholder Info:
- Current Shares Issued: 100,000
- Purchased Shares: 44,741
- Outstanding Shares: 55,259
- Current Price per Share: $0.278
- Open Bid: $0.27 | Open Ask: $0.28
- Number of Shareholders: 11

Top 3 Shareholders (blessed by the gnomes):
- Eugeniee: 12,226 shares, valued at $3,398.828
- Over Confidence: 8,901 shares, valued at $2,474.478
- Kractero: 6,708 shares, valued at $1,864.824

The gnomes appreciate your trust in their mystical financial prowess. May your shares grow ever prosperous!

Manager Moment:
The Wellsprung Card Fund continues to flourish, and we’re approaching a major milestone—50% of shares bought! This is a pivotal moment to consider whether we want to initiate a 1:2 share split. Both paths offer distinct advantages: with fewer shares, individual share value increases more rapidly, but rest assured, your investment remains completely secure. In the event of a split, each shareholder would receive double the number of shares they currently own, while the price per share would be halved. This opens the door for more investors to invest and grow the fund even further.

At present, new investors are driving our growth, but I’m eagerly anticipating the opportunity to inflate many cards once Season 4 begins. Additionally, I’m negotiating a large-scale deal that’s progressing well and has the potential to significantly bolster the fund. Keep an eye out for more exciting updates soon!

Greetings all, I am the new Mage of Foreign Affairs. I hope you like this update as it has alot of cool new things introduced.

The Wellspring Region: Recent Political Developments and Elections
On August 3rd, The Wellspring opened elections for two pivotal positions: Sage and Archmage. Four candidates entered the race, with Mr. JJ, Prov, and Caldrasa vying for the role of Archmage. For the Sage position, only Comfed officially stood, as one other candidate participated in jest. Voting commenced five days later, resulting in a decisive victory for Mr. JJ, who secured 74% of the votes to win the Archmage seat. Prov garnered just 1 vote, while Caldrasa received 3 votes. In the Sage race, Comfed proved immensely popular, receiving 100% of the votes.

Following their elections, Mr. JJ took office as Archmage, and Comfed assumed the role of Sage. Mr. JJ nominated Ventro, Prov, and JL as elders to join the Conclave. All three nominations passed the Local Council, but Prov’s nomination sparked a legal debate over whether the Archmage held the authority to make elder nominations. The Conclave argued that this power belonged to the World Assembly Delegate.
Two weeks ago, The Wellspring introduced a new regional charter, quickly gaining widespread citizens' support. The charter, which was brought to a vote on October 1st, includes several key reforms: the formalization of the Guardian Council, the establishment of emergency contingency plans, the creation of both an Election Commission and a Citizenship Commission, and the continuation of the Conclave. It also clarified the process for Delegate nominations, among other provisions.

With The Wellspring’s transition to a Stronghold, nominations for the World Assembly Delegate began on October 6th. Four candidates stepped forward: Incumbent 9006, Bisofeyr, Prov, and Caldrasa. The community engaged actively in the nomination period, raising questions about each candidate’s vision and goals. Voting took place from October 10th to 12th, resulting in a narrow race between Incumbent 9006 and Bisofeyr. Ultimately, 9006 retained the position for another 180 days.

Meanwhile, a recall vote was initiated against Sage Comfed, who had resigned from several regional posts due to an impending break. The recall passed with 82% of voters in support, the remaining voting to abstain, and an election for a new Sage was called. Prov, Paxso, and Nutmeg stood as candidates, all garnering significant support. The race was tight, with Paxso initially in the lead, followed by a surge in votes for Prov and Nutmeg. Although Prov held the top spot for much of the election, a final push saw voters rally around Paxso and Nutmeg. In the end, the Archdruid selected Nutmeg as the new Sage, who then chose Prov as Deputy Sage.

Following his election, Archmage Mr. JJ addressed the region and announced key appointments:
Mage of Games: Prov
Mage of Foreign Affairs: Icarus
Mage of QOTD: Realize
Mage of World Assembly Affairs: Paxso

On 10/12, Icarus resigned from the role of Mage of Foreign Affairs, explaining, "I have been here since day one and have held this office since it was first created, but I think now is the time for some fresh blood." The Wellspring community thanks Icarus for her long-standing service. Following her resignation, Prov was appointed as the new Mage of Foreign Affairs.

In economic news, The Wellspring has launched an innovative stock market system, based on the region’s popular card mini-game, which has quickly become a central feature of the community. Known as The Wellspring Card Fund, this unique financial structure allows participants to deposit their cards into the fund, where the value of these assets is tracked and managed. Over time, the fund has demonstrated consistent growth, as card values fluctuate based on rarity, season, and demand. Since its inception nearly a month ago, The Wellspring Card Fund has seen its value triple, signaling its strong potential for continued growth. Each week, we issue detailed reports tracking the fund’s performance, providing transparency and insights for all participants. These reports outline the overall value increase, trends in card performance, and projections for the coming weeks. This level of engagement allows investors to stay informed and make strategic decisions about their contributions.

We got new writers, I may or may not overuse the word magical and enchanted just a smidgen :P

The Wellspring Chronicles: A Time of Elections and Arcane Governance

As the celestial orbs aligned on the third of August, The Wellspring once again opened its sacred halls for the grand elections of Sage and Archmage—two of the most exalted positions within our magical dominion. Four aspirants emerged from the swirling mists, with Mr. JJ, Prov, and Caldrasa casting their fortunes for the coveted mantle of Archmage. Meanwhile, only the wise Comfed stood in earnest for the title of Sage, though another contender entered the fray in jest, their presence but a whimsical footnote.

After five days, the magic of the vote was sealed, and the scrolls of fate declared Mr. JJ as Archmage, having earned the favor of 74% of the council’s enchanted ballots. Prov and Caldrasa, though honorable in their endeavors, fell short with one and three votes, respectively. Comfed, beloved by all, ascended to the role of Sage unopposed, with unanimous approval from the arcane electorate.

With their new mantles of power, Archmage Mr. JJ and Sage Comfed began their reigns, and as tradition demands, the Archmage summoned three worthy elders—Ventro, Prov, and JL—to serve in the sacred Conclave. Though all nominations passed the Local Council with ease, Prov's ascension stirred the winds of debate, as questions arose about the Archmage’s authority to name the elders, a power some believed to rest solely in the hands of the World Assembly Delegate.

Amidst these political currents, two fortnights ago, a new regional charter was brought forth to the citizenry. Like a beacon of light, it quickly garnered widespread support. On the first of October, the charter was cast into the arcane fires of the ballot box, and it emerged reformed, with several key provisions etched into law: the formalization of the Guardian Council, contingency plans for times of calamity, the creation of the Election and Citizenship Commissions, and the enduring presence of the Conclave. The charter also brought clarity to the mystical process of Delegate nominations.

With The Wellspring’s resurgence as a Stronghold, the magical portals of nomination opened on October 6th for the selection of the World Assembly Delegate. Four brave souls stepped forward: Incumbent 9006, Bisofeyr, Prov, and Caldrasa. The arcane currents buzzed with energy as the citizens engaged with questions, seeking to divine the intent and vision of each contender. After a fierce and close contest from the 10th to the 12th of October, the fates decreed that Incumbent 9006 would retain their post for another 180 days, though the race between 9006 and Bisofeyr was indeed tightly fought.

Meanwhile, the once esteemed Sage Comfed, who had relinquished various posts in distant lands to rest, was subject to a recall vote. With 82% of the citizenry casting their votes in favor, a new election for Sage commenced. Three candidates—Prov, Paxso, and Nutmeg—stood beneath the ancient oaks, each gathering significant support. The winds of favor were capricious, with Paxso first leading, only for Prov and Nutmeg to rise in turn. Though Prov held the upper hand for much of the contest, a final surge saw Paxso and Nutmeg vie for the title. In the end, the Archdruid, keeper of ancient lore, cast the deciding vote, and Nutmeg was crowned Sage. In a show of unity, Nutmeg selected Prov as the Deputy Sage.

With the shifting tides of power settled, Archmage Mr. JJ addressed the region, announcing a new cadre of Mages to serve The Wellspring:

Mage of Games: Prov
Mage of Foreign Affairs: Icarus
Mage of QOTD: Realize
Mage of World Assembly Affairs: Paxso

Yet just as the currents of fate never cease, the Mage of Foreign Affairs, Icarus, resigned her post, saying, “I have been here since day one and have held this office since its inception, but now I feel it is time for fresh blood to fill this role.” The region extends its deepest gratitude to Icarus for her years of service. Here’s a version with an abundance of "magical" and "enchanted" language:

The Wellspring Chronicles: A Time of Magical Elections and Enchanted Governance

On the enchanted date of August 3rd, The Wellspring opened its magical elections for two pivotal, enchanted positions: Sage and Archmage. A total of four magical candidates stepped forth from the enchanted lands, with Mr. JJ, Prov, and Caldrasa vying for the role of Archmage. For the Sage position, only the magical Comfed stood, while another participated as an enchanted jest. Five days later, the magical voting began, and Mr. JJ secured a decisive victory, claiming 74% of the magical vote to win the Archmage seat. Prov and Caldrasa garnered only a few enchanted votes in comparison. Meanwhile, Comfed’s magical popularity resulted in a perfect 100% enchanted vote for the Sage position.

Following their magical victories, Archmage Mr. JJ and Sage Comfed assumed their enchanted roles and began their reigns of magical governance. As is the magical custom, Archmage Mr. JJ nominated three elders—Ventro, Prov, and JL—to join the enchanted Conclave. All three nominations passed the magical Local Council, but Prov’s nomination ignited an enchanted legal debate over whether the Archmage had the magical authority to nominate elders, a power some believed to rest only with the magical World Assembly Delegate.

Two weeks ago, The Wellspring introduced an enchanted regional charter, which quickly gained magical support among citizens. On the enchanted day of October 1st, the charter was brought to a magical vote, and its enchanted reforms were set into motion: the formalization of the magical Guardian Council, enchanted contingency plans for regional emergencies, the creation of both an enchanted Election Commission and a Citizenship Commission, and the continuation of the magical Conclave. The charter also clarified the magical process of Delegate nominations.

With The Wellspring’s return to its enchanted status as a Stronghold, nominations for the magical World Assembly Delegate began on October 6th. Four magical candidates stepped forward: Incumbent 9006, Bisofeyr, Prov, and Caldrasa. The enchanted community eagerly participated, raising magical questions to uncover each candidate’s vision. Voting commenced on October 10th and concluded on the enchanted day of October 12th, with Incumbent 9006 narrowly retaining the magical seat for another 180 enchanted days.

Meanwhile, a magical recall vote was initiated against Sage Comfed, who had resigned from his enchanted regional posts to take a magical break. The recall passed with 82% magical approval from the enchanted citizenry, and a new magical election for Sage was called. Prov, Paxso, and Nutmeg all stood as enchanted candidates, each gathering magical support. The race was intensely magical, with Paxso initially in the lead, but soon Prov and Nutmeg’s enchanted votes surged. Though Prov held the magical advantage for much of the election, a final enchanted push saw voters rally around Paxso and Nutmeg. In the end, the magical Archdruid cast the deciding vote, crowning Nutmeg as the new Sage. In a magical act of unity, Nutmeg appointed Prov as the enchanted Deputy Sage.

Following these magical events, Archmage Mr. JJ delivered his enchanted address to the region and announced the appointments of new magical Mages:

Mage of Games: Prov
Mage of Foreign Affairs: Icarus
Mage of QOTD: Realize
Mage of World Assembly Affairs: Paxso

However, the magical flow of events did not stop there. Yesterday, Icarus resigned from the enchanted position of Mage of Foreign Affairs, explaining, "I have been here since day one and have held this office since it was first created, but I think now is the time for fresh blood in this magical role." The enchanted community thanks Icarus for her magical service. Following her resignation, Prov was appointed as the new Mage of Foreign Affairs, taking on this vital enchanted role.

The Enchanted Wellspring Card Fund: Magical Wealth for All

In financial news, the enchanted gnomes of The Wellspring’s magical banking system have launched a new and enchanted initiative: The Wellspring Card Fund. This magical stock market, based on the region’s popular enchanted card mini-game, has become a central feature of the magical community. The enchanted fund allows magical citizens to deposit their cards into the fund, where their enchanted value is tracked and managed by the gnomes’ magical expertise.

Since its magical inception nearly a month ago, the Wellspring Card Fund has magically tripled in value, demonstrating its enchanted potential for even greater growth. Every enchanted week, magical reports are released to track the fund’s performance, detailing the magical trends in card values and offering enchanted projections. These magical reports ensure that all participants stay informed and can make wise, magical decisions about their enchanted investments.

The Wellspring Card Fund is open to all magical citizens, allowing anyone to join the enchanted market.

Prov has now stepped into the role of Mage of Foreign Affairs, bringing new vigor to this essential post.

A message from the desk of the Archmage of the Wellspring, Kakastania (Mr. JJ):

The Wellspring proudly announces the ratification of The Rune and Crown Act, a monumental treaty between The Wellspring and the New Sarovian Empire. This pact, crafted with wisdom and bound by honor, heralds a new era of cooperation, culture, and camaraderie!

The New Sarovian Empire is an online nation community that has existed since 2016 throughout many games, beginning with GraalOnline and expanding into Roblox, Minecraft, and, most exciting for us, NationStates! The Crown Colony of Metternau is the New Sarovian Empire's NationStates colony, and The Wellspring is honored to be able to call Metternau an allie and its people our friends.

Here's a summary of the key provisions of The Rune and Crown Act:

Strengthens Bonds: The Wellspring and Sarovia unite in friendship, sharing unique histories, cultures, and traditions to forge an enduring bond of unity.

Celebrates Culture: Interregional festivals, holidays, and events will bring our communities together to revel in shared stories and forge unforgettable memories.

Advances Knowledge: Wellspringers can now enroll in Sarovia's esteemed educational institutions, gaining access to courses that explore both Sarovian wisdom and Wellspringian wonders.

Fosters Prosperity: Plans are already in the works for economic collaboration, opening the door for trade, resource sharing, and mutual growth through innovative initiatives like integrating card economies.

Initiates Embassy Construction: To cement our alliance, both regions will establish embassies in each other's lands—physical beacons of cooperation and collaboration.

With the Compact now ratified by both The Wellspring and Sarovia, we look forward to shared prosperity and a flourishing partnership.

Raise your banners high and let the runes of unity and the crown of cooperation shine brightly! Together, The Wellspring and Sarovia shall inspire the world. Onward, to a glorious future!

Signed in joy and hope,
The Regional Government of The Wellspring

So, is there a reason why the treaty doesn’t even link to an NS dispatch and why said region only has 5 del endos. I guess my point is, is this community even substantially involved in NS?

Following further investigation, due to new evidence posted here, our leadership has made the decision to terminate our treaty with Sarovia. This decision arises from repeated instances of offensive language and hateful content observed within Sarovia’s community discord, including the use of the "R-word" and employing "gay" as an insult. These actions are fundamentally at odds with the values and community standards we uphold.

When approached about these concerns, Sarovia’s response—that it prioritizes freedom of speech over an individual’s right to feel safe in a community—was deemed unacceptable and further solidified our decision.

We are committed to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and supportive environment across all partnerships. As such, we must prioritize our community’s principles. Effective immediately, we are terminating the treaty.

While it is regrettable that this behavior was not identified prior to drafting and passing the treaty, we believe that taking action now is the most appropriate course to rectify the situation.

Thank you for your understanding.

Appreciate this one, guys. "Shortest lived Gameplay treaty" is a record I'm happy to lose.
