10000 Islands, the Rejected Realms, the South Pacific, Spiritus, and the Union of Democratic States are proud to jointly announce the Aegis Accords, a multilateral mutual defense treaty based upon our longtime and shared defender values. With the treaty now in effect, the Aegis enhances the security of all its member regions and provides a framework for a stronger and more united defender world.

For years, we have been an informal alliance brought together through various bilateral treaties amongst eachother. It was only last year that we came together for the Security Council bloc that is the Partnership for Sovereignty, of which we are all members. But today, we have taken an additional step forward to establish a formal military alliance between longtime friends and allies – a bond that cannot be severed so easily – who share a common cause.

This treaty owes its name to a shield mentioned in Homer's Iliad that was wielded by the goddess Athena and her father Zeus. Carried by the goddess of war, a defender of freedom, the aegis serves as an apt representation of our alliance and what we stand for. We are the aegis for peace and freedom throughout NationStates, and we will defend against any threat that comes our way.

The Aegis is happy to announce the successful execution of a joint detag operation during the minor update of February 28th. A total of 12 updaters from four member militaries came together under Klysevia's leadership in a single team, under the banner of Aegis, to clean up 31 regions without a hitch.

CONCORD AND A TACO PARADISE ADDED AS PROTECTED REGIONS

We are pleased to announce that Concord and A Taco Paradise have been declared as Protected Regions of the Aegis Accords, through unanimous votes in two Councils of the Parties.

Concord has been strongly growing in the near-year since it was established under Leaguer rule, and A Taco Paradise represents an optimistic future for 10000 Islands with the Frontiers and Strongholds update. We look forward to seeing the progress of both under the aegis of defender unity.

As a result of these votes, Parties to the Accords will protect these regions as one of our own, and we look forward to future cooperation across a multitude of domains.

THE AMARANTHINE ISLES ADDED AS PROTECTED REGION

Per a unanimous vote at a recent Council of the Parties, the Aegis has voted to declare The Amaranthine Isles as a Protected Region of the Aegis Accords.

Established in 2021, The Order of the Grey Wardens has carefully grown The Amaranthine Isles into a sizeable protectorate. The region has already transitioned into a Frontier, one we hope we pay dividends to the Order and defenderdom in the months and years to come.

As with our other protected regions, we look forward to engaging further with the new Frontiers aspect of NationStates gameplay and seeing what it brings for our communities.

EUROPEIA RATIFIES THE AEGIS ACCORDS

After overwhelming approval in a Council of the Parties and ratification by the Europeian Senate, we are excited to announce Europeia as the eighth member of the Aegis. Europeia is a tried and tested community with sixteen years of history, including a rich political culture and long-lasting military force. Their foreign policy shifts in the last year and a half have been greatly welcomed by the defender community, and we're excited to see them taking the step of identifying as Defender and joining the Aegis. We greatly look forward to seeing what the Europeian community contributes to the Aegis.

These Accords had an interesting line-up at first and with each successive addition I understand less and less of what it's trying to achieve. Just want to be the first in the public square to predict that Balder's gonna be the next one knocking on the door, then this alliance will really mean nothing.

EDIT: The persnickety pedant in me just wants to be helpful and point out that The Amaranthine Isles is listed as a protected region on the Accords itself, but not the OP.
