10000 Islands, the Rejected Realms, the South Pacific, Spiritus, and the Union of Democratic States are proud to jointly announce the Aegis Accords, a multilateral mutual defense treaty based upon our longtime and shared defender values. With the treaty now in effect, the Aegis enhances the security of all its member regions and provides a framework for a stronger and more united defender world. Since ratification, these members have been joined by The League, The Order of the Grey Wardens, and Europeia.
For years, we have been an informal alliance brought together through various bilateral treaties amongst eachother. It was only last year that we came together for the Security Council bloc that is the Partnership for Sovereignty, of which we are all members. But today, we have taken an additional step forward to establish a formal military alliance between longtime friends and allies – a bond that cannot be severed so easily – who share a common cause.
This treaty owes its name to a shield mentioned in Homer's Iliad that was wielded by the goddess Athena and her father Zeus. Carried by the goddess of war, a defender of freedom, the aegis serves as an apt representation of our alliance and what we stand for. We are the aegis for peace and freedom throughout NationStates, and we will defend against any threat that comes our way.
