Reventus Koth in training for his next film
Studio Backlot, Malice Pictures Movie insiders and fans alike were left scratching their heads after a draft screenplay for a NationStates: Avengers spin-off series got leaked online.
Titled Ragnarök: Bigger, Badder & Balder, the screenplay follows Thor – accompanied by his infinitely-marketable robotic dog L.I.L.Y – in his fight against the nefarious King of Balder.
Former action megastar Reventus Koth was supposedly in talks to play the lead. The film would’ve marked the actor-turned-director’s first starring role since 2017’s OFO: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back.
We caught up with Quebecshire, the local public-access movie critic who first reported the leak.
“Malice Pictures is known for their raider rom-coms and action flicks, sure, but this one’s more lackluster than blockbuster. Get what I did there? Haha, right, no? C’est de la merde. Anyway, I’m sure it would’ve been a hit ten years ago, but come on, it’s no Mythical Council.”
One fan we encountered remarked, “Maybe this is for the best. Know what I mean? Like I liked the first Stargate and the second was okay and the third was just a complete rehash.”
Despite these concerns Malice Pictures continues to outpace its more established rivals such as LWUniversal Studios and streaming services like the Hawks Box Office.
Ragnarök supposedly lingered in development hell for months due to contractual obligations and several attempted re-writes, including changing the setting to The West Pacific.
Though when asked about rumors of spiraling production costs and questionable artistic choices, the action star chalked it up to a “communications breakdown”.
But movie goers need not despair. Sources say the project hasn’t been completely abandoned and there are even talks of outsourcing certain aspects of production to reduce costs.
