November + December Update


House of Representatives seated, Prime Minister appointed

On December 12th, the first official House of Representatives session was opened by the President, with Mr. Ervald, Mr. Elisha Menzies, the Hon. Eldrid, and the Rt. Hon. Corresta seated in the House. The House of Representatives then chose Representative Eldrid to serve as Speaker.

The House then made way for Corresta be chosen as the first Prime Minister and Head of Government, a role held by the President since the Resolution of Continuity and Activity was announced.

With the appointment of the House of Representatives and Prime Minister, the Resolution of Continuity and Activity has been repealed. The President is expected to make nominations to the judiciary soon.

Cabinet Shuffled, New Interior Minister, World Assembly Affairs Minister.

The President, holding the portfolio of Prime Minister until the
appointment of Prime Minister Corresta, made a change to the Prime Minister’s Cabinet by appointing Alcala to the position Minister of the Interior. Alcala replaces Sarah James, who held the position for serval months as the region builds up.

The President then appointed Connor Wessex as Minister for World Assembly Affairs, taking up the mantle from GVH, who lost citizenship. Mr. Wessex most recently served as Prince of Wales for New United Kingdom before joining Saint Osmund

Minister Acala, Prime Minister Corresta, inherit a region on the precipice of success. They face the coming challenges of integration, recruitment, and getting people interesting in the gameside activity of the region. Similarly, President Laurens-Wessex and Minister Wessex face building a core of World Assembly nations and mobilizing the World Assembly as a means of diplomacy within the region

Saint Osmund Coast Guard sets sail

A ragtag group of sailors were tapped to answer the call of a region raided. After leaders from Libcord reached out, the President of Saint Osmund answered the call, gathering four citizens to baptize the Saint Osmund Coast Guard by fire.

Having never conducted a mission before, they responded admirably, conducting themselves with professionalism and grace, and, along with the rest of Libcord, liberated New Westphalia. Celebrations ensued, with a determination to continue to participate in Libcord Operations.

Due to the monumental occasion, the participants involved were commissioned as Ensigns. Please give your congratulations to Ensign Elisha Menzies, Ensign Connor Wessex, and Ensign Fita.

July Foreign Update

Cultural Canon Act Introduced

Something that has always been a fundamental feature of NS is the concept of being a nation within a region. The idea that your region is an alliance of different nations under one banner. The reality of that situation is different, however. The reality is, most people who engage on the gameplay side of affairs tend to act as politicians within one nation.

In the Republic of Saint Osmund, it has been decided to take this immersion a step further. The President, John Laurens-Wessex, has introduced the Cultural Canon Act. This act has serval provisions, establish the capital of the region, based in Merriwether, Saint Osmund, establishing an official time zone (UTC-4), and an ISO 3166 country code (RSO) among other things. The goal of the legislation is to allow citizens to exist in an immersive nation building experience with a vibrant theme. The Bill also commissions a map for the Republic of Saint Osmund and its capital.

This bill, a radical new concept, pushes the Republic of Saint Osmund forward, and provides a new level of depth for players to participate in.

Treaty of Granite Park introduced

The Treaty of Granite Park, the constituting treaty of the International Trade and Defense Association, has at last been introduced into the House of Representatives.

The treaty, which was written by Saint Osmund President John Laurens-Wessex, streamlines the alliance the region has been a key member of for a long time. The reorganization provides for an elected Secretary-General, a robust security council, and mutual defense. The new treaty was met with support from James R. Kennedy, the incumbent Secretary General of the Association, who then referred it to the other member regions of Morpheus and Autumn Plains for ratifications.

The treaty now stands in the House of Representatives awaiting ratification.

Prime Minister gains a new duo, President struggles to fill vacancies

Prime Minister Turbiatop, on the hunt for cabinet officials, found two new ones in the form of Gadhan, the new Minister of Culture, and Sirch, the new Minister of the Interior.

Gadhan is a newcomer who has showed extensive promise through discussions with the Prime Minister, showing a desire to participate further in the growing Saint Osmund community. Sirch stands as an experienced NSer, boasting experience in the government of the Empire of Great Britain, a region which has blossomed in the 5 years since its founding. Sirch has shown to be an extremely valuable asset to the Prime Minister as he seeks to execute his domestic agenda.

In the Presidential Cabinet, the President has struggled to find a replacement for the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Vice President Ervald, who resigned suddenly and without explanation. The Office has remained vacant since the resignation, while the hunt for a new MoFA goes on.

The President has felt a similar difficulty filling the vacancy in the Supreme Court. The Basic Law mandates a minimum of one Justice of the Supreme Court, something that has not been fulfilled. The nomination of Ostrovsky, a prominent defender, had given hopes that such a vacancy would be quickly filled, but a sudden unannounced resignation of citizenship prevented the nomination from going through. The President, however, has not been discouraged from finding the best candidates for these jobs.

D&D comes to Saint Osmund!

Anyone with a keen eye would have noticed a new discord category under construction, a category dedicated to the hit tabletop game Dungeons and Dragons! What one would have also noticed is the arrival of Avare, a bot designed to help run D&D games on discord!

It is the hope of the President that a new, robust, and fun D&D campaign will start within the region, with visitors and residents also allowed to join in on the fun too! The initiative seeks to bring people to Saint Osmund as a place where they can have fun, find friends, all without having to participate in the day to day governance of the region.

The Government also extends its invitation to any citizen of a region in which Saint Osmund has an embassy to participate in D&D!
