OOC: Colonial Era War Region/RPing?

I was wondering if anybody would be interested in creating new nations and a region just for colonial era war RPing. A map would be drawn of the area for the region and weapons would include things like Muskets and Cannons and wooden warships. I can create a new forum and new chat for inter-region communicating. Anybody interested? I think I want very active RPer's.

Im still considering the map design. Army sizes during this time period were typically very small (excluding the Gran Armee) so im thinking instead of basing army sizes on population it will be based on land areas held. Me and Tarsas discussed it and we think that it would make sense to have the number of miles held dictate your army size. More land = more area you must defend, and as you all know during this time port transportation was much slower. Also more land = more peoples you can conscript into your armies. Since this is set with Napoleonic Era technology the goal of these nations ICly would be land expansion. So this also incentivises land expansion. Im thinking about setting up a main continent with all of the nations located there conjoined. Around the continent will be islands and other contenants that are not controlled. So the possibilities of battles are unlimited. Conquering foriegn lands, fighting over colonies and of course just invasions from nation to nation. Army sizes most likely wont exceed 40-60,000 troops (per invasion) because of course you would need far more men to stay at home and protect your territory. Some things to remember during this time period is that communication could take days, and because of that small armies could often cripple even large countries because of the enemies delayed action.

So I was thinking of making some rules for the RP to ensure high quality. For instance, all battles must have maps supplied. Since during this time period tactics were a major part of the equation, maps of troop locations, cannon locations etc would most likely have to be drawn up also. Basically just ensuring high quality RPing.
