June 2021 Chaotic Council Elections

Over the past two weeks, it has become apparent that the Chaotic Council isn't firing on all cylinders. Entropy isn't going to be taken seriously about combating stagnation abroad if we aren't first combating it at home. With that in mind, the Chaos King has shaken up the region's system of government and the way the Chaotic Council will be selected to ensure continued activity and interest in the region as the luster of the first 100 days wears off.

Moving forward, Entropy will function as a meritocratic democracy. Final authority over regional government will continue to rest with the Chaos King, including the authority to remove Councillors from office at will to ensure that meritocratic values are preserved and no one can rest on their laurels once elected. The World Assembly Delegate will be elected every six months, and other Councillors every two months, or whenever an office is vacant if the Chaos King deems there to be sufficient time remaining in the term to warrant a new election. Should he deem otherwise, he will appoint a replacement for the remainder of the term. Entropy will continue to function without burdensome laws to avoid getting endlessly bogged down in bureaucracy and how to do things instead of actually doing them, but residents will get to choose who will manage their regional government. Candidates are encouraged to present their own vision for their departments, even if they differ from the broad agenda thus far laid out, to allow residents to weigh in on their preferred path forward.

In the spirit of Entropy's founding, all are welcome to participate. If you move a nation in today, you will be allowed to run or vote provided you meet our very basic eligibility requirements. If you move a nation in and post a campaign two minutes before the deadline, you will still be allowed to run or vote. Entropy remains an open community that prides itself on the ability of every resident from the oldest to the newest to make their voice heard and help shape the future of the region. The spirit of our first 100 days lives on in the openness of our community to newcomers who wish to contribute.

To ensure a level playing field, those who were holding Chaotic Council offices have been thanked for their services and dismissed, with the exception of the World Assembly Delegate who will remain in office through the conclusion of the elections to ensure regional stability.

You can find more details regarding election procedure and offices subject to election here.

There is an issue that does that. It has been nerfed a large number of times due to complaints, but it still will take a significant chunk out of most of your stats if you answer 'wrongly'. It's about abolishing the tax code and starting anew.

There's an option in the issue about naming your nation's leader that also does this. Some people call it the "North Korea option"...

(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Entropy Claims Itself

It is with great sadness that the Entropic Government must bring you all the following news, but it's about time we all faced the truth and bit the proverbial bullet. Entropy cannot sustain itself as a regional community. Despite all of our best efforts we've been fighting, well, entropy.

Our activity has been threadbare for a while and our government, despite valiant efforts from councillors and civil servants alike, can no longer adequately sustain itself.

Therefore, the Chaos Queen, in consultation with the Lord Protector, has decided to wind down the region.

The government would like to extend its gratitude to everyone who has participated in the region, no matter how big or small their contribution. A region can never be forever, and hopefully you've all had fun and made good memories along the way.

Blessed is the outcome.

Another case of user-created regions (UCRs) being too small despite best efforts.

I recommend posting in this technical suggestion thread by Sedgistan to potentially get nations spawning in your UCRs as a feature (if not for this one, hopefully for future user-created regions.)

Stop giving misogynistic abusers a platform. Anyone who sides with Tiktok Star Andrew Tate even 1% of what he says will be treated as enemy who should be shamed out of society. Impressions+Views+Videowatches=$. Nothing he says is new or revolutionary. I don't care if he said "some good stuff", it's still bad because: the more you watch him, the more ad revenue MONEY and algorithm BOOSTS you're giving him to traffick victims. And don't say the victim lied, a young man stupidly told me that the victim confessed to lying, I told em to link me proof, articles or the Audio of her confession, he googled and found 0 proof 0 articles, and he realized he was spreading fake rumors he heard and BELIEVED without fact-check. Don't brand victims as liars without GOOGLING. Debated here

As someone who started region-building at around the same time Entropy's experiment started, I am aware of the challenges a newer region has faced in the past few months. You did your best, good luck with your future endeavors!

This is quite unfortunate. Entropy was one of the more unique projects in recent memory, and it was a joy to see its progress. NSGP needs more regions like it. Perhaps when frontiers are introduced there will be room for something like this to thrive.

To the Entropy's current and former residents...

Aww dangit, I was worried this would happen. I hope Entropy comes back one day, when those of us that loved the idea can better commit to it. Also, big shoutout to Zentata for being amazing. I'm sure whatever Zen does next is gonna be awesome.

hopefully this ain't the last time I say this..

Blessed is the outcome.

Did this region ever experiment with demarchy?

I don’t think that’s ever been tried in NS to my knowledge.

I doubt this would work. What if you hire someone inactive? Or someone who doesn't want to do it?

Although people tend to do demarchy (sortition) informally. In the past I just thrust the jobs onto randos who keep DMing me, so I said "Hey since you're free and always asking me for NS stuff, here's a job for you!" And that was how people were given jobs seemingly by random.

And if you run a numerical generator and randomly choose a nation in your region to get a job, what if that nation is busy and doesn't respond? What if they're dead nations...?

Sortition barely works.

Sortition could work if people have to declare they are participating. It's not pure sortition at that point, but few practical systems are pure.
