My Opinion on Raiding

Raiding is terrible but it’s just part of the gameplay. I don’t think the mods are gonna ban it anytime soon. It’s literally on their How To Play page in regions.

Raiding is just a way some people have fun on here. I use NS primarily as a worldbuilding platform, some people use it mostly for roleplaying, and some for R/D gameplay. I can see how it'd be upsetting if someone raiding the region you put a lot of time and effort into making an RP haven or ideological echo chamber, but you can just as easily make a backup for the WFE or a password-protected fallback region until you get liberated. And, hey, if you don't, big deal! It can be fun to start anew, but it's not like they're actually causing permanent damage. You can very easily start a new, safer region and just continue your RP's or whatever else was going on as if it never happened, and better yet, that new region will probably only have the people dedicated to having a good environment for it. Hell, you might even be able to join some defenders in taking back your region and have it be some huge RP'd-to-hell crusade to reclaim the homeland! It's just not a massive deal and none of the damage raiders can actually do (without breaking site rules and getting banned at least) is permanent. Write up a liberation WA proposal and carry on with your life.
Really, though, in the scattered times over several years I've used this site there has always been people upset by R/D gameplay and i've never seen it seriously considered for being changed. Just let people have their fun, and if you seriously hate raiders so much you froth at the mouth thinking about it and can't sleep at night, just password-protect the region and have people apply before they enter. Simple problem, simple fix.

So then as soon as someone figures out how to help the game tell that difference, raiding will be banned?

Nope. Raiding (as a whole) is good for the game, and it's a deliberate choice that it remains part of it.

Reppy's post was making the point that these "ban raiding" threads come up every so often, and no-one ever has a convincing technical way to actually implement such a suggestion.
