The Diplomatic Mission of the Dominion of Antemurale to the World at Large
Greetings, and welcome to Antemurale's corner of NS! We are a new startup aiming for something new and exciting, and this thread will be used to field questions and post updates as we build up and up.
So to the specifics:
Antemurale is Latin for "bastion". It denotes a well defended or place of safety that obtains its safety because it is strongly defended by some force. Antemurale pulls heavily on Roman and Greek influences for its political and regional themes. For those who know me, Castle Federation, aka The Regalian Diadem, aka Wonderess, I am deeply fascinated by the abstract and particularly the moral aspects of the ideal. This fasciation explains my decision to pull on Rome and Greece. Aristotle's concept of eudaimoneia which translates to happiness through personal flourishing comes about through one's development in a community through the exercise of virtue. My aim with Antemurale is to build a region that isn't spurred on by government or game mechanics but by this concept of flourishing and the consensus of the community.
In NS usually one finds a region, learns the laws and general vibe of how the region operates, and then matches in order to succeed according to the legal mechanics. Antemurale's structure is defined to maximize communalism where a letter of the law matters less and the discernment of eudaimoneia or the objective good a la Greek sensibility. The power isn't so much in the system, but in the idea. This will of course require many a course correction to get right, but I think it is an experiment well worth the time! We are open to anyone who is interested in this sort of project and welcome cosmopolitans (being one myself (go TNP)).
