If there's no one left in your region around midnight EST tonight, move out of it before the clock hits twelve. At some point in the subsequent hour, the region should cease to exist, since it has no people in it. Once that happens, just go right back and create it again.

If you do do that, then all the rmb messages and regional history will be deleted, as well will the previous founder be removed with you being the new one. When you refound a region, you actually erase the old one and create a new one with the name being the only same thing. There is also a chance that someone could refound the region before you do, in that case the name is gone practically forever. If you decide refounding is worth the loss of all the ingame history and you go through you will probably want someone to help you refound so you don't lose your region name to update surfers. I know that 10000 Islands has helped with refounding many times in the past, they're the specialists, and often they'll do it for free!
