We can *maybe* look it up through the nationstates API by being lucky and fetching all recently made nations through the nation call ( https://www.nationstates.net/cgi-bin/ap ... testlandia ) and lookup what their DBID is.

With the keyword being maybe.

I suspect it's Lhrykrinsk.
https://www.nationstates.net/nation=lhrykrinsk

From this thread, The Moose was the 6 millionth. (edit: which means 1m new nations in 2 years!)
From the Boneyard, The Moose's ID is 2906891
So assuming ID number goes up by one each time...
Add 1m to get 3906891
API call on that nation ID (to view card deck info) returns nation name lhrykrinsk

That makes sense. And nice usage of the card api :)

It also means that we have about 3 million nations without a DBID.

Probably, heck, very likely, that the ID system was created after 3.2-3.3 million nations were created and that [v] never bothered to give IDs to the ones that had CTEd.

Though of course, it might be (very likely) the case that nations that were resurrected out of those 3 million, do get an ID associated with them.

Now the question is, how many of these 3 million were resurrected for the first time after the introduction of the DBID in the last two years.

I think we just might be off by a few hundred there :( Maybe even a few thousand, the last two years saw the introduction of the card game, which made people resurrect old puppets for farming :)

Anyway, like the "8th billion person in the world concept" I find your answer close and good enough :)

Too bad the 7th millionth nation hasn’t logged in since their founding, which means they can’t receive special prettily like the Moose :(

I forgot again what the number was in 2014.
How much have we jumped since then?

Wait, what is a DBID?

I believe it’s the ID assigned to every nation. For instance, here’s Testlandia in the boneyard and Testlandia as a card. You can see that the card is marked #1, and the boneyard shows an ID of 1.

Good point. The 5 millionth nation (RMS Carpathia) was verified in a news post by Max and has a DBID/Trading card # of 1901133. So we had an additional drift of about 6,000 nations between the 5 millionth and 6 millionth nation. A similar drift likely exists between 6 and 7 million.

I think we were sub-250k when I joined. >_> There was probably 120 people and a goat when Blaat founded. :p

The thing is, I saw the game in a signature on the europa universalis forums. A game franchise that now celebrates its 20th year.

Gosh, I am such a nerd.
