Offical statement of the EPSA on the invasion & occupation of Slatos - 2/16/2020

Just after midnight EST on 2/16/2020 the course of history was violently altered.

Our very own Eastern Pacific Sovereign Army (EPSA) and its allies (from The North Pacific Army, Balder, The Black Hawks, Karma, the Joint Task Force of the Augustin Alliance, and Lone Wolves United) stormed the region of Slatos - a region that had outwardly proclaimed its intentions of invading The East Pacific. The region’s (former) founder and leader, who had been banned from TEP for summary offenses before declaring his will to invade us, went so far as to try to infiltrate our regional government. This was presumably so that he could attempt to destroy us from within; however, he was caught in the act. Rather than face justice and explain himself he ran from the Court and was resultantly banished. His region then mobilized to invade an ally of The North Pacific’s (and failed). These actions were ample justification for the swift retribution that followed.

Sakana, the EPSA commander and organizer of this assault, deftly led a large force of 38 national armies - 34 of which accurately jumped the trench in the first wave - from our “jump point” in Frozen Circle into Slatos. She immediately unseated the region’s former monarch, Arkoudan, who was backed by 26 WA-member endorsements at the time, then dismissed any of Slatos’s Regional Officers who might have been able to interfere with our occupation. Members of our own forces were then installed as the new ROs, the World Factbook Entry was altered to reflect the result of the conflict, and the majority of the region’s former inhabitants scattered to various camps abroad. The battle was quickly and conclusively over.

Of considerably honorable mention is the contribution of TEP’s own Rage Mage - or “Phost Cel”, as he was known within Slatos - whose infiltration of the region several weeks earlier (just after Slatos himself failed to infiltrate ours) and acquisition of Border Control powers from the enemy leadership could have been key to our eventual success, should the first invasion attempt have failed. As the night unfolded, however, he proved to be a critical boon to the operation: Rage was able to eject 5 nations endorsing Arkoudan (which had 31 endorsements just prior to our assault) right before the update. This significantly expanded our margin for error and could have saved us from potential intervention by nefarious forces allied to Slatos. This young leader’s commendable initiative and intuition in TEP’s multi-faceted approach to defeating Slatos surely prefaces a long and successful career in TEP.

Speaking personally, now, as AMOM, I must applaud this invasion as the greatest EPSA offensive that I have ever seen. Since the failed coup in October 2019 The East Pacific’s soul has been on the line. I cannot fathom anything that more boldly spells “comeback” than what we have just witnessed: unrestrained by chiding foreign influences like the long-dead UDL and unhampered by any petty internal conflicts, The East Pacific sallied forth as a whole and with divine fury to strike down a bully who had, ever since the region freed itself from Fedele, been TEP’s primary antagonist. It was a powerful display of drive and coordination. It was an invasion - not just a simple “raid” - conducted against a detestable enemy of the state and of the people, done in the interests of interregional peace and justice, in the long term. It was a show of unity and of faith in a new East Pacific ideal.

We appreciate the contributions of all allied military forces. This operation could not have been such a resounding success without their support. Let this serve as an example to those who would needlessly make an enemy of our otherwise benevolent Republics. None of this needed to happen - until it did.

Long live TEP!

- former TEP delegate & former EPSA field marshal, Topdop / A mean old man

Addendum:

It behooves TEP and the EPSA to extend their condolences to any of the innocent residents of Slatos who have expressed shock and confusion towards this unfortunate but necessary affair. It appears that a number of them were unaware of their leader’s crimes against us. In the aftermath of this invasion we harbor no ill will against the individuals caught in the crossfire: as is the case in war, the people suffer due to the crimes of their government. EPSA extends the following advice to the refugees: seek greener pastures under different leadership and we may someday meet as friends. Divest Slatos and any other hostile figures of executive powers and responsibilities and allow them time to consider how they have conducted themselves. Rebuild without committing acts of aggression abroad and make a name for yourselves as productive influences that can be trusted.

Slatos, despite his villainy, has expressed regret for his actions: the time may come, once the dust settles, when he agrees to stand before the Conclave in TEP and attempt to clear his name. In the meantime he should demonstrate that he has learned and that he can be reformed. I look forward to meeting him someday as a different man from the one he has been.

Always happy to be of assistance to EPSA, glad LWU could help out. A beautifully executed operation, especially with Phost Cel as BC officer and the large yet tight jump.

Through a simple word analysis, you can calculate how compromised your region's sovereignty is to the NPO based off how many times AMOM writes "foreign influences," "enemy," "infiltrate," "fury," or "unity," in memoranda on behalf of your region.

0-1: Latent threat.
1-4: Medium threat, highly probable despite denials.
5-10: Strongly compromised, even more probable despite official denials.
10-20: NEW LAZARENE ORDER.
20-50: Francos Spain Redux.

For every NPO member in TEP, add +1. +2 for a Senator. +20 for Feux. +50 for any anonymous account that is an anagram of an NPO Senator or translates to "Games."

1) AMOM is not a member of the New Pacific Order and has, in fact, been banned since late 2018. He bears us no particular love. Anything you see written by him is a product of him and him alone.
2) There are very few actual cross-members and neither of the two I can remember offhand are anything resembling "devout". Nor have we particularly influenced TEP in any significant capacity or you'd have heard cries of outrage about this kind of thing ages ago.
3) You know absolutely nothing about NPO as it currently stands, so kindly take your analyses somewhere else.

If anyone believes any of this, I have a mountain in the Himalayas to sell them. AMOM's post was a rehashed piece (circa 2012) of sweeping NPO rhetoric about infiltrators and preserving regional sovereignty (with the UDL getting an honorable mention!) from a guy whose CV includes infiltrating Lazarus, Osiris, and TEP -- then followed up by a comprehensive denial by an NPO Praetor.

About every two years, the NPO pretends to be a "mostly Roleplay oriented," friendly, and respectable version of its cynical, expansionist, and exploitative past to a gullible new generation. The NPO develops new unwitting "agents of influence" who wrongly believe they have a special relationship or friendship with the Senate - a la China / Russia (note: everything you say is actually being recorded and logged for all of the Senate to read). All the while they build the foundation for a takeover, or infiltration, and disrupt geopolitics abroad for fun and to advance their individual reputation and status in the Senate.

The NPO in NS is a client state of a larger network; it is a despotic kratocracy that exhibits a culture of secrecy, militarism, and negative selection - especially in times of succession.

As the founder of the region the old parliament of Slatos chose to re-found the current new government in, I am satisfied with this statement from the EPSA and the addendum which follows it.

Wow, some of what you just said is a dick move, even for you. Considering that most of what you say is offensive and radical nonsense, this is an achievement. Of course I give a denial. I'm tired of us getting the credit for AMOM's work. And in case you've forgotten, AMOM was a good Delegate for TEP in 2012 and 2013 who drove activity and involvement in wider GP. AMOM also is the one who wanted to give you a chance in TEP and we saw how well that worked out. Among all of his mistakes was the one that let you within throwing distance of TEP.

To avoid the threadjack, I'll stop here.

Edit: By the way, the Praetor is the Military Senator. If you want binding representation of highest authority, you'll have to ask Elegarth or LoD.

Pretty much this... Or in any region for that matter.

The one thing people does not seems to understand, tho, is that contrary to popular belief, we in the NPO do not control all aspects of the life of members of the NPO. A few years ago, there was a proposal to forbid members of the NPO to actively participate in other regions. I, as a "known Cosmo", have always opposed such a thing, and hence, I've always maintained the idea that each and every member in the Order with membership in other regions or organizations is responsible for his/her actions, both towards the public opinion and towards Pacifica itself.

However, I don't have neither the time, nor the interest, to be the puppeteer to anyone. If there are Pacificans with membership in EPSA, working in EPSA targets and operations, it is completely up to The East Pacific, its government and its officials whatever operations they do or not. Any joint operations between TEP and NPO are clearly branded as so, as per the direct orders of The Emperor and myself as Consul. Irrelevantly if Unibot wants or not to believe it.

If we had wanted to have any influence over TEP, we wouldn't have acted as we did during the Failed Rahl takeover of TEP. We were among the first to act on the many threats, even if we did it silently, to avoid issues with other members as worried as we were of their safety.

Finally, let me be quite frank with you all: The New Pacific Order, in this iteration if you want to call it, is fully respectful of each region's decided form of government. AMOM is a citizen of TEP - which has nothing to do with us. He is a member of their institutions - which has nothing to do with us. And if he ever gets elected to any positions, be it as part of their democracy, or appointed by its officials, this also has nothing to do with us.

And as long as I'm active on the NPO, and in the Senate, I can personally assure you we are not messing ourselves with the likes of AMOM (or Feux, or Milo for that matter). You should remember what AMOM think of me personally and IC, and you would know better Uni... And everyone else.

For what it's worth, I believe and accept that the NPO is not having anything whatsoever to do with AMOM right now. I think that's a distraction from the real issue, which is that TEP is elevating him to positions like legislator, moderator, and a command position within their military, and recently he came in second place, albeit a distant second place, in their Delegate election. That was with the incumbent Delegate running for reelection though. Does he win next time? In his campaign thread there, he attempted to whitewash his infiltration and subversion of Lazarus and Osiris. Disgusting.

Personally, as an Osiran, I have no interest in having anything to do with a TEP that apparently still hasn't learned its lesson about keeping sketchy people like this who are hostile to some if not all of their allies out of TEP, not to mention out of senior positions in TEP. Honestly, folks, when are you finally going to learn to stop being the sheep who merrily let the wolves in right through the front gate? AMOM shouldn't be anywhere near your region, let alone anywhere near your senior positions, and it's actually quite offensive you've put him in a senior position in your military and expect allied regions -- including the very regions he's infiltrated -- to work with EPSA despite his presence and active involvement in leadership.

I hope to see Osiris terminate its alliance over this, I really do. No idea if that will happen. I hope other regions will also reevaluate their relationships with TEP, because to be honest, by letting AMOM back into positions of power and influence, you've proven nothing has changed and you're still as unstable as you ever were. Maybe Glen-Rhodes was right about leaving you to be subverted and couped since you actively, willfully refuse to learn, time and again.

NPO Delenda Est

Can’t you all give AMOM a break? He’s a great guy, a good friend, and an even better player. Cormac is so cynical towards everything wants to blacklist literally everybody and anybody, for any reason and no reason. It’s pretty sad actually. Elegarth, you forget that it was Feux who said those things about you IC and OOC, not AMOM.

I’m personally glad to see AMOM doing well and enjoying the game again. Best of luck to him and the rest of TEP.

Senior Commander Jackson Topdop hadn't been gone for long, but it hadn't taken long for the reek of sweat and fear to permeate the room. He curled his nose at the stench, looking over the faces of petty enemies he knew all too well. They'd wasted no time making their appearance to selfishly sour what was an otherwise celebratory moment for The East Pacific. Very sad.

"Hah! 'As an Osiran'." The Senior Commander looked through his eyeglass, far, far into the distance, towards the UCR of Thalassia. "As what Osiran, now? And even if you were, the Osiris I remember - your Osiris - was a gulag. What an irony it was, while you pontificated about the evils of 'toxic individuals', to watch you conduct yourself therein. The misery was palpable. Your style (or absence thereof) of savagely beating down your opponents in any debate over even the most minor of topics, while constantly crying foul over criticism of your vicious approach being 'character assassination' - it generated a heavy sense of dread that perpetually haunted Osirans both young and old. It was somehow allowed to persist well after your embarrassing sidelining by the Rahls, whose schizophrenic approach to 'defeat Cormac' versus 'let Cormac back in' subjected the region to months of awkward uncertainty.

"You are not one to talk about who to ban from a region's government. No, sir, you are the OPPOSITE of an authority on this. Your legacy in Osiris was to empower not the genuine, spirited youth of this region - of whom there were several that I endeavored to befriend - but two groups of infiltrators who knew exactly how to play you in order to get what they wanted. And how were you played, you might ask?" He paused, grinning cruelly. There was a vicious glint in his eye. "We did your dirty work. We said 'yes' to you - always. We were your apparently loyal, unquestioning cronies. You are an agent of cronyism. I am an agent of progress and enlightenment. Debate the ethics of my methods till the cows come home, but my endgame was always to defeat the former and uphold the latter. Return to your little kingdom, you. Begone!"

Cool, good to see some classic, old school Francoist rhetoric from a senior official of our ally, despite Osiris' strenuous opposition to Francoism. We declared war over it, in fact, but now a senior official of one of our allies is spouting it and trying to tell us who is and isn't Osiran. The same guy who infiltrated and subverted Osiris for his own ends, spewing Francoist drivel and trying to tell us who belongs in our community. Not a good look for TEP.

Yeah, here's where your whitewashing tends to go off the rails, chief. You see, I'm still in Osiris, and Osiris now has a healthy, fun, cohesive community. It didn't at the time because it was infested with people who were only there in bad faith, but whom I genuinely believed were there in the best interests of Osiris. That was naive and stupid of me, in several cases, but let's not pretend I was the one making Osiris miserable. The proof is there for all to see. Now that you and your ilk are gone, now that the Rahls are gone, Osiris' community is doing pretty well. So I think it's pretty evident who actually made the community miserable, who actually made the atmosphere gulag-like, and who encouraged me every step of the way to take draconian measures I didn't even like. You folks and the Rahls tried to pin that stuff on me after I retired from my last term as Pharaoh, but everyone knows you were actually the ones responsible for it, so come off it at this point. No one's buying it. You folks were the ones who were dragging Osiris down, and everyone knows it.

Well, let's be clear, I thought you, Feux, et al. were "the genuine, spirited youth" of Osiris because you played me, just like you've played other regions and just like you're playing TEP right now. I would never have promoted you to anything if I'd known who you were, but I thought you were newcomers Adytus, Wrektopia, Kowassati, et al., and I was eager to see newcomers promoted. Perhaps my eagerness to see newcomers promoted has a bit to do with why Osiris has seen a string of relatively fresh faces as Pharaoh since Neo Kervoskia stepped down, not that I'm claiming credit for their appointments, but I'd like to think I did in fact encourage fresh talent. For example, I was the one who suggested NK appoint Syberis as his successor. I was supportive of Altino being chosen as his successor, and Lynxi being appointed as hers, etc. I've supported fresh faces in leadership positions for years.

So, I've actually always encouraged newcomers to get involved and advance in Osiris. It just so happens that in the process of encouraging that, unfortunately I fell prey to your ilk posing as newcomers, and you almost -- but not quite, because you always manage to hilariously flub it in the end -- got your hands on Osiris. That was my mistake. But at least instead of you, Osiris has seen plenty of newcomers advance through its ranks since your departure, and I'm very proud of that. It had nothing to do with you, and you did nothing to encourage it. In fact you were often openly hostile to genuine newcomers, like Altino, no doubt because you saw real newcomers who were actually talented as a threat to you. And you were right to see them as a threat to you, because they could wipe the floor with you, and I'm confident will wipe the floor with you when you try something again.

In regard to your overall drivel, I'll just point out that in TEP you're saying you did what you did to purge the Rahls from Osiris, but here you're saying you were working with the Rahls to drive me out of Osiris. Which was it? Let's try this on for size as a fit that's closer to the truth: You were willing to work for and with anyone, and play everyone, with no regard for the community of Osiris, in order to achieve power there and seize the region for yourselves. That's who you've been, who you are, who you'll always be in this game. It's in your nature, like the scorpion who hitches a ride on the back of the frog. Some communities have learned that. Some, apparently, haven't. Hopefully TEP doesn't have to learn this lesson yet again the hard way. In the meantime though, what you've said here about Osiris is detestable and if TEP actually holds its alliance with Osiris in any real esteem -- which to be frank, I doubt, because TEP has never cared about its alliance with Osiris before -- they will do something about you. But I won't hold my breath.

"Ah, yes. The old 'I know you are but what am I?' Bah. This commentary on being hostile to genuine newcomers - simply false. Look, I don't particularly appreciate the proxy war you're trying to conduct between Osi (a region you have repeatedly abandoned in fits of rage regardless of whether I was present there) and TEP via slandering me here. If there are any diplomatic issues that have otherwise gone unvoiced within the last three months I am sure we'll hear about them through the proper channels and address them accordingly.

Meanwhile, is this the 'EPSA' thread or the 'EVIL AMOM' thread?" He drummed his fingers on the podium.
