Independent/Unaligned/Other Military of the Year: Lazarus Guard for giving a Warzones a big baddy.
UCR Region of the Year: Caer Sidi for quietly existing, no dramas and good events.
GCR Region of the Year: Warzone Sandbox for while no one was noticing, built a Warzone that is bigger than most founderless regions, probably top 10 excluding GCRs. Plus smart enough to stay away from WZ politics. (I'm also forcing op to acknowledge WZ as GCRs :p)
News Operation of the Year: Escade's Gameplay Magazine. She gone atm but the mag was top quality stuff and offered something different from newspapers or political editorials.

Edit: I should probably explain a few of these.

Raider of the Year: Miss Bad Life Choices, Armaros/A Bloodred Moon/Jo

Up and Coming Defender: THX1138
THX is a longtime WA author who came to 10000 Islands (and defending) only a short while ago. In the short time he's been here, THX has served with distinction and been promoted up the ranks into TITO command. I feel like going from newbie to command in what's perhaps the largest military in the game with the most members to draw from in such a short time definitely earns him consideration for this award.

Most Influential Gameplayer: Frattastan
Gameplayer of the Year: Kuriko

Raider Military of the Year: The Black Hawks
LWU has made a resurgence very recently, but if I'm looking over the whole year, I don't really think any group can really compare to TBH.

Defender Military of the Year: The RRA.

Independent/Unaligned/Other Military of the Year: the NPA.
I was tempted to write in something honoring either The Pacific or Antifa, but the NPA has shown up in strong numbers too often for me to feel comfortable nominating any other group.

UCR Region of the Year: 10000 Islands
GCR Region of the Year: The Rejected Realms

Defense of the Year: Philippines
I'd like to have written in "the Raidercon raid" for the whole event, but this was the one we won. I feel like defenders as a whole just roundly outplayed raiders as a whole throughout the entire update, with raiders missing on several high profile targets before finally settling for Anontia.

Political Event of the Year: The South Pacific officially going defender

Event of the Year: "Coup" of The East Pacific
It warmed my cold, dead heart to see natives get their own backs here. Natives acted so quickly and decisively that I'm not sure this counts as a "defense" in the usual sense, but I think their strength and tenacity in responding to the coup definitely earns them a spot in this award ceremony. However...

Failure of the Year (IC only): "Coup" of The East Pacific
Certainly the coup fell apart extremely quickly, and that alone (imo) makes it worthy of inclusion. This one, though, was kind of a double failure. With respect to the natives of The East Pacific, I really think more people should have seen this one coming. I know, I know, hindsight is 20/20, but still!

News Operation of the Year: The Bunion (!!)
I can't think of another operation's work that I am consistently looking forward to. The Bunion is a treat and has several excellent pieces this year.

So many people saying TSP going defender was the biggest political event of the year. But the thing that made it possible was the Red Phone leak that laid bare the hostility raiderdom had for us. Couldn’t have made the case so crystal clear without that smoking gun.
