The Democratic Empire of Stacramon is a region of united colonies and protectorates which band together to do what is in the best interest of everyone. Through applying to join the Stacramite Empire through this thread, you agree to become a Stacramite Protectorate which is defined in the spoiler below.

A protectorate, as defined by the Stacramite Empire, is a fully independent nation that resides within the Stacramite Empire and is thus considered a part of it. Protectorates may govern themselves and conduct their own foreign affairs, only now with an assurance of protection and support from Stacramon and its colonies. The only obligations of a Stacramite protectorate are to assist Stacramon should it need it in warfare or diplomatic endeavors and to appoint a government official to the Stacramite Colonial and Protectorial Parliament (which will be discussed more briefly). The Stacramite Empire currently has one protectorate, Coliniana, so you can contact them if you want to know from a first hand source what being a protectorate is like.
A colony is a subsection of Stacramon which is governed by Stacramon itself and is not independent. Colonies of Stacramon usually enter into the empire voluntarily (see Balianica, Libernita, and Flankerland), are won by Stacramon through warfare or treaties (see Brezlesheek), or are founded in unclaimed territory by Stacramon itself (see Spacetramon I and Spacetramon II.

Do protectorates get a say in Imperial affairs? They sure do! In fact, it is the obligation of all protectorates of the Stacramite Empire to appoint one government official to the Stacramite Colonial and Protectorial Parliament. Through the SCPP, all protectorates and colonies will have a vote in affairs which affect the colonies and/or protectorates of the Stacramite Empire, including but not limited to: the election of the Stacramite Emperor/Empress, legislation that will directly affect Stacramite protectorates and/or colonies, and the city in which will be held the Stacramite Imperial Games. Once you have appointed an official to the SCPP, you will be telegrammed every time there is a new matter up for vote or a new announcement pertinent to protectorates of the Empire.

What elected offices are available in the Stacramite Empire? Protectorates of the Stacramite Empire may be elected to an elected office within the region. Colonies may not be elected to these offices, but they are eligible to vote for them. Here are the offices available:
A nation may hold no more than TWO offices at a time. If you have any questions about a particular office or would like to run for election in a particular office, please do this by a telegram to Stacramon, the current WA Delegate, or the current Vice-Delegate.
  • World Assembly Delegate: Has all controls, including executive and World Assembly command. Also allowed to manage the Recruitment Thread. This office is not decided by election but by who has the most World Assembly Endorsements in the region at any given time.
  • Vice Delegate: Has all the controls that the Founder (Stacramon) and WA Delegate have except for executive command and World Assembly command. Also allowed to manage the Recruitment Thread.
  • Head of Diplomacy: Has control of appearance and embassies
  • Head of Communications: Has control of communications
  • Polling Officer: Allowed to conduct regional polls, but is not allowed to use these polls for executive matters (elections and other things that would normally need to be voted on by the SCPP)

What are the benefits of joining the Stacramite Empire as a protectorate? For one thing, should you decide to join the Stacramite Empire, you shouldn't think of yourself as just another region in a vast imperial regime. Sure your nation will be considered a part of the Stacramite Empire, but you should still think of your nation as just that. A nation. You will still have full autonomy and any decisions you make for your country affect your country just the same. You don't have to change your flag, currency, classification, or anything. The only difference will be that you have the guaranteed protection and support of one of the greatest empires around and will have a say in how the Empire as a whole is run, with your only obligation being to vote on Imperial affairs and to support Stacramon if it needs help.

How do I join, and what do I do once I join? If you're sold on the Stacramite Empire and want to join, all you have to do is join! No password required, that's it! If you would like to apply for regional office, you can fill out one of the applications below and we will put you under consideration. It may take a long period of time for you to get the position, as we would like to wait for more candidates to apply before we appoint one nation for the position, but just be patient and you may well get the position or some other position.

If you have any questions, you may submit them as a response to this thread or as a telegram to Stacramon!

It would seem in my eagerness to post this thread I forgot to attach the application initially. This has been fixed. Lol.

Please restrict your use of "bump" to once every 24 hours, thank you.

REPPY EDIT TO ADD: Or until your thread has fallen off the first page, whichever is longer. Also, bumps with no content tend to be counterproductive to recruiting.

Moderation received a complaint. Which is also why I haven't handed down anything other than a reminder, no actual punishment. Let's not clutter the thread.

They were three days apart and I'm confused as to why I was reported for it, but I will try to give my bumps more meaningful content from this point forward.

I'd prefer it if all the nations in the region had viewed this thread, as it contains crucial information. Granted, a lot of it is in the welcome telegram, but we also find it beneficial to password lock the region to prevent unwanted visitors and raids.

While it wouldn't necessarily stop the "unwanted visitors" part, since you have an active founder nation in the region, you can stop all raids cold by simply going into your region's settings where you can take care of assigning regional officers and removing all officer powers (except for World Assembly, that can't be removed) from the WA Delegate position. A region without an executive WA delegate position cannot be effectively raided since without any officer powers, a raider delegate can't actually do anything to the region. (NOTE: This will not protect from a sleeper agent gaining your trust and gaining a position such as a Border Control officer that they could then do some damage with. You still need to exercise caution when it comes to appointing your regional officers!)

Passwords are a bit of a double-edged sword. While they provide the most extreme layer of regional security possible, at the same time it can also stifle efforts to recruit new members to the region. Generally speaking, the more difficult it is to join a region, the more difficult it's going to be to convince someone to join it.

You make a fair point. I will consider removing password protections, but likely only if I'm not able to recruit any more nations by June.

NOTICE: The Democratic Empire of Stacramon will be removing password protections on June 1, 2019.

Our apologies for the delay, but password protections have officially been removed from the Democratic Empire of Stacramon.

Also, requiring nations to fill out an application before joining is also going to deter a lot of new members. It's also worth noting that most players don't even visit the forums, so if you have aspirations for your region to grow significantly, forums only is not going to work.

This was an oversight on our part after having removed password protections and has been changed. We already intended to change this but forgot.
