Red Wolf Alliance Statement

Postby Crystalsummer » Tue May 12, 2020 12:49 am

Image

Hello NSGP. On Friday evening my moderator’s, and my government was made aware of some explicit conversations on Red Wolf Alliance Discord’s server. Upon discussion with our ambassador from the RWA, they did admit that this was going on. By the discussion of the moderator team, it was decided to close embassies for now. I do want to say that I do appreciate that they were honest with me, and my team. We also gave them some solutions on how to prevent future incidents like this one from happening going forward. It is my feeling they that if RWA follows our future recommendations, then we will consider the future relationship between our communities. It is not everyday I write these kind of statements. It is always in the my best interest to protect our community at all costs. We have many incredible people who make up our community whether it’s different ethnicities, age groups, genders, or beliefs. Here in FNR we ensure the safety of our awesome community regardless of any relationship with have with outside neighbor communities. With that being said I want to personally wish the region of RWA a successful recovery, and to learn how to better prevent these kind of things going forward. Thank you!

Recruitment Championship 2020 Concluded

The Free Nations Region Recruitment Championship 2020 Concluded with The Greatest Bestest Nation winning it. The event was organised by the Ministry of Immigration and all the Participants were asked to create their own recruitment telegram and use it to manually recruit 1000 Nations. The person with the most success rate would be the winner and his telegram would become the official recruitment telegram of the Free Nations Region. Second place went to My Nation and our founder Crystalsummer was at the Third place.
Drewpocalypse breaks all Records

On 20th April 2020, A YouTuber Drew Durnil posted a video of him playing Nationstates. The video was watched by over 246k people and soon the game experienced an influx of new nations. Servers were broken for days. The Free Nations Region received the second most number of World Assembly nations from the Drewpocalypse with 110% growth only behind the Union of Democratic States. Extensive Integration Positions were undertaken by the Minister of Immigration. A second wave of nations also came after a second video. A lot of stamps were donated by Tigerania, Sparsdan and Crystalsummer that caused the population to increase from 360 nations to a record 770 nations. Although after extensive integration most nations stopped playing after logging in once.

Greater Cadia Resigns as the President and receives the Founder's Medal of Freedom

It is with great regret to announce that our President, Greater Cadia, has stepped down on 18th of April, 2020, in order to deal with personal RL matters. It has been a pleasure for Cadia to know us all - from being one of the more active residents of FNR, to being elected and sworn in as Minister of Foreign Affairs, followed by being elected as President. The months that Cadia has spent with us have been a treasured moment, and he wishes us all the best with everything we do. We at FNR would also like to wish Greater Cadia all the best with his RL commitments, and in turn earning him the Founder’s Medal of Freedom. Greater Cadia resigned five days before the commencement of the FNR General Elections. Thus, Vice President South Asians became the President till the end of the General Elections.
April General Elections Results

The Greatest Bestest Nation won the Presidential Elections along with his running mate Thaelle with 65% votes. These elections saw the introduction of running mates as previously the Vice President were chosen by the winning candidate after their election. Other Candidates running for President were Narvatus and Republic of Arstotska. Arstotska chose ASEAN Maharlika as his running mate. Narvatus got 35% of votes. The Republic of Arstotska was eliminated in the first round of votes after getting only 24% of votes.
World Assembly Delegate Elections were the most thrilling one. The candidates were Crystalsummer, OF Arian Hellas and Red Foxia. OF Arian Hellas received 51% votes in Round 2 while Crystalsummer received 49% votes. Red Foxia ended up having only 14% of votes and were eliminated after Round 1.

ConCon 2020 is here

The Free Nations Region Tribunal has decided to officially start the Constitutional Convention from 13th May. The Constitutional Convention is being conducted in our discord server. The main reason behind the convention is to get more people interest in the legislative assembly as the regional population has increased significantly after the Drewpocalypse. With the influx of new nations a "new and improvised" version of the current constitution will be great. The unfinished draft of the Constitution can be found here.

Heaveria approved as a Judge in the Tribunal

President TGBN nominated Heaveria for the position of Justice in the Tribunal after the abrupt departure of Al0neForever from the region. When asked about the reason behind his choice TGBN said that Heaveria was the Chief Justice of the FNR Tribunal two years ago. His removal from the Tribunal was solely due to his inactivity. Now that Heaveria has returned back to Nationstates and has been very active in the region. He deserves another chance in the Tribunal. The Legislative Assembly approved Heaveria with 29 approval votes and only three Citizens abstaining.

Soon after Heaveria assumed his position as a Judge. He made a proposal in the legislature named "The Attorney Proclamation Act" that introduced court-approved Attorneys. That got approved in the Legislative Assembly.

Cross Promotional Agreement signed with NSToday
Image

NationStates is no stranger to the idea of two or more bodies of organisations cross-promoting each other’s content in the official channels, and for us here in FNR, this is no exception as we establish friendships with other organisations and regions. For instance, following the days of drafting and negotiations done recently, NationStates Today (NST) and The Free Nations Region (FNR) have agreed to promote each other’s content in the channels of the respective Official Discord servers.

The Agreement, as it was written, as signed by Mysterious Player, then-President of FNR before the recent General Election; and by Wymondham Asteorra, the Deputy Chairperson and Public Relations Director of NationStates Today. The agreement was duly ratified by both NS Today and FNR on 2nd of May 2020, followed by FNR’s Official Discord then promoting the content on a separate channel that posts NS Today’s content on a regular basis as per Provision 4 of the Agreement.

As per Provision 8 of the Agreement, Vostrov was designated as the representative of FNR and was given access to a dedicated channel in NS Today’s Official Discord server.

FNR’s Exhibit in NSGE. Flag Contest Wins Hearts!

Image

To quote and paraphrase Chief of Staff South Asians, our region is pretty excited to participate in the NationStates Great Exhibition (NSGE), especially because it has only been 1 year since our region has actively started getting involved in the NationStates Gameplay. Most people don’t know much about our region as much as they know about the other regions, and as a result, we saw this event as an opportunity to introduce our community to the world of NationStates.

As we establish our participation in NSGE, so has our promotion for the event. Back in 24th of May, an announcement was made to promote this grand and special event, with a premise that NSGE is a premiere event for regions and nations alike to share their ideas, culture and history and culture in one place. With talks and interviews on subjects from Socialising and Influence to NationStates Moderation, we have experts on every imaginable topic delivering lectures, Q&As and interviews.

For the regional exhibition, after the short introduction from South Asians about our History, Roleplay, Politics, and Military, we shortly afterwards conducted a flag showcase, a friendly no-drama contest whereby everyone got a chance to show off their best flag designs to the entire NS world. This also applied to those that does not have nations in FNR (be it citizen, resident, foreigner), and thus everyone was welcome to.

Narvatus Emerged victorious in this flag contest with this flag design:-
Image
Flag Description:- It represents the bright future of Narvatus via the rays that symbolise the sun, with the traditional Narvatusian anchor on yellow background in the center. This flag was used in the Republic of Narvatus from its adoption in 1913 to the establishment of the Federation of Narvatus in 1932.

The NSGE Exhibit of The Free Nations Region can be found here.

In the meantime, elsewhere in national exhibits, Vostrov has done their own regarding the characters that they have established in their world, specifically The Sixty. More about them can be found here.

The ConCon is still happening but at a slow pace. The Tribunal decides a particular article to be completed at a particular day of a week. The Citizenry Gathers at that day discusses that article thoroughly. They put forward their proposals and which are then voted on and added in the draft. We don't want any loopholes and errors in our constitution that's why it is taking time.

As South Asians mentioned, we're working on it. While I understand the urgency to the ConCon - it's important we closely evaluate our decisions as we don't want a repeat of this in the near future. I can say that from the document, we about 70-75% completed. We attempt to set multiple days a week to gather together and use the power of democracy.

Hey, new president here! I am honored to have been elected to the position of President a few days ago. I'd be happy to provide an answer.

There were mistakes bilaterally made in handling the leaks. I believe the largest issue was the response Lazarus had regarding the attack on NSToday for utilizing the material they received. NSToday is an independent organization and therefore, the nation that leaked the information should be punished rather than the news agency. We also don't support articles that defame a government and this additionally backfired for NSToday. We could not tolerate a person that leaks information. This goes against our principles of honesty and shows disloyalty. A government should vouch for transparency as much as they can. While we have certainly have taken note of the situation, we still stand by our FNR-NST Cross Promotional Agreement. There is nothing inherently wrong with the agreement. On the contrary, it promotes transparency and encourages a more globalized NationStates. We can only learn from these mistakes and not repeat them in the future.

TGBN resigning while being mentioned throughout this update as the President seems to demonstrate a need for timelier monthly updates, any push in the region to get updates out so that the news they record isn’t immediately outdated?

That said congrats Heaveria! From the little interaction we had in UDS, I’m sure you’ll do great

Special Election held after President TGBN resigned

Image Banner Credit: Emaha Pie Chart Credit: Gufand
Back on 15th of June, our then-President - The Greatest Bestest Nation, also known as Mysterious Player, resigned on a good note, citing his busy life and schedule outside of NationStates. Of additional note is the fact that this was not an immediate departure, as he considered this as early as back in 8th of June. After the resignation took effect, a Special Presidential Election began on 19th of June, 22:00 UTC, with citizens of FNR declaring their candidacy a few days before that. In the meantime, FNR would like to thank Thaelle for being a great Vice President so far, coming in as an Acting President during the resignation and until the subsequent Special Presidential Election. The election ran for 3 days / 72 hours, until 22nd of June 2020 21:59 (09:59 PM) UTC. As with many other elections, citizens each receive an Election Code via their TGs, as these will ensure that there are no vote-rigging being done. After the intense 3 days, the results are out! Eligible Voters: 210 (as of 12.06.2020 22:00 UTC) Voter turnout: 30 % Votes submitted: 63 Valid Votes: 59 Reasons for vote invalidation: Invalid EVC (Election Verification Code): 50 % (2) Voted multiple times: 50 % (2) Heaveria – 62.71% / 37 votes The United Provinces of North America – 20.34% / 12 votes Abstain – 16.95% / 10 votes FNR would like to give congratulate Heaveria, who will lead our region to a brighter future. As always, a special thanks to all the voters for making this possible. As for UPNA, we wish you good luck next time, for you have also been a great candidate! Heaveria will serve an extended term of 4 months according to the law.
The Pride of FNR!

Image

Every year in June, the world of NationStates celebrates the Pride Month, whereby many regions and individual nations change their flags for this special event. Of course, The Free Nations Region has its very own Pride Flag too! We are proud to fly it for the next month in order to demonstrate our tolerance and acceptance for persons of every orientation and gender. This year's design features the seal of FNR on a semi-transparent white circle which is surrounded by seven stars. All this is superimposed on the famous rainbow flag that is a symbol of LGBTQIA+ pride. Needless to say, there is some symbolism behind this design too: the seven stars represent the seven colours of the rainbow and also the LGBTQIA+ community. The white circle represents peace. Our Chief of Staff, South Asians, correctly pointed out on our Discord server that "[as] a region that represents freedom, The Free Nations Region has always been an advocate for gay equality". Even our regional motto says "Freedom Prevails!".

ASEAN Maharlika resigns as the Minister of Foreign Affairs

ASEAN Maharlika resigned from his position as the Minister of Foreign Affairs citing real life reasons. His deputy Gufand assumed his position as the MoFA until President TGBN nominates him to permanently replace him. He got approved by the legislature with 25 votes for him, 8 citizens abstaining to vote and 4 voted against him.

FNR Citizen wins Gold Medal in Paradoxical 2.0

After the success of their first edition of Paradoxical Event, The East Pacific hosted another edition of Paradoxical named "Paradoxical 2.0" along with Thaecia. The Nation of JH won first place in the City Roleplay

We had an interview to ask more about the experience.
So you participated in paradoxical 2.0 and won first place, right? Could you tell us more about that?

‘’Well, sure. I was first place on the City RP for my contributions to Railway system we planned. This is a picture of the Railway System that was planned.’’

Image

‘’We had designed 3 lines for cohesion, because one giant line would be too much hassle.I had originally suggested the Railway system, but i didn't expect it to take off so well. Especially with such willingness from so many Citystates, we really got the effect the railway was designed for.’’

Do you have any prior experience in drawing these graphs?
‘’I dont, but With a bit of determination and a lot of time on my hands, i could make it happen.’’

What was your reaction when the results were announced and you won the first prize?

‘’Well, I was surprised at myself, to be honest. And theres one citystate that stands out to me the most, who I think, should really get the reward. Yumehama. They did an excellent job of pioneering the railway, and keeping the peace. I think thats why they deserve it more than I do. Thats why i voted for them in the vote.’’

I see. It truly shows your honesty and sincerity. I personally wish you best of luck. I hope you will win much more prizes in the future interregional events and make FNR proud. What was the reward that you got at the end?

‘’Well, the reward I recieved, was quite funny. Steam keys for Cities Skylines and a dozen or so DLC’s. Unfortunately, I have cities skylines and said DLC’s on PC. Well. I played a game of Cities Skylines, put on the country music radio station and had a hour or so of fun in one of my cities. I quite fondly remember dedicating a statue of Liberty to Yumehama.’’

Did you show that statue to Yumehama?

‘’Unfortunately, no. I could not find their user to show them it. But maybe one day, I’ll be able to.’’

Apologies for the delay once again. Hopefully, we will get the next one to be out on time.

Vostrov (Minister of Info / Communications), that is me serving in FNR, has been rather busy with other NS stuff, and other RL stuff, as of late. As in, there are a lot of other contributors, but onus and responsibility fall on me to update them timely. Hopefully, school will get a little bit more relaxed for August for the June update.

Debate Club
Debates are a part of our daily life. Most of us partake in debates in our classrooms, workplaces, houses etc with our friends, families and colleagues. We usually debate about a wide range of topics related to politics, sports, economy, fashion, society etc. Debates are a part of all the NS Discord Servers. It is a part of our discord server as well but we have decided to take debates to a next level by forming a debate club. Every week people propose the topics we should hold debates then we conduct a poll on which topic is more popular. The topic that gets the most number of votes becomes this week's topic of the debate club. We have moderators to ensure that the debates remain civilised. The First Debate Session that took place was about the topic Is it acceptable/ethical for the government to monitor citizens (e.g. telephones, internet, social media, etc.)? and the second debate session was Nuclear Energy- Yes or No? and The third debate was about EVMs- Yes or No?. A poll for the topic of a fourth debate session is currently going on in our Region page. We have also expanded our debate club as a cultural project beyond our borders to other regions and have seen positive attendance rates.

Narvatus elected as the Delegate as the Super Elections concluded
The Free Nations Region Super Elections Concluded on July 24th. These elections were different from other elections. This time we haven't conducted Presidential Elections as Heaveria is serving an extended term of four months as the President of FNR. This time the election officers Emaha, Tigerania along with a new election officer Firsthaf decided to merge the General Elections with Ministerial Elections. The elections began from 19th July and the results were announced on 24th July. The Results of the election are as follows:

Image

The highlight of these elections were the delegate election. Three Candidates were participating- Eluthania, Narvatus and Incumbent Delegate OF Arian Hellas. Narvatus won the elections with 51.43% of votes thus ending the reign of OF Arian Hellas that lasted for 624 days (the longest reign by any delegate in FNR History).
Minister of Immigration:
Emaha (Independent): 88.57%
Abstain: 11.43%

Minister of Communications:
Vostrov (Incumbent, Independent): 94.29%

Minister of Defence:
Sargon Reman (Independent): 85.71%
Abstain: 14.29%

Minister of Internal Affairs:
South Asians (Workers Party): 57.14%
Arstotska (Incumbent, Democratic Party): 42.85%
Abstain (Eliminated): 17.14%

Minister of Foreign Affairs:
Gufand (Incumbent, Democratic Party): 88.57%
Abstain: 11.43%

Speaker:
My Nation (Incumbent, Democratic Party): 94.29%
Abstain: 05.71%

World Assembly Delegate:

OF Arian Hellas (Incumbent, Patriotic Movement): 25.71%
Eluthania (Democratic Party): 22.85%
Abstain (Eliminated): 14.29%

Other Cabinet Appointments
As the Super Elections came to a close. President Heaveria decided to nominate a Minister of Cultural Affairs as there were no candidates for that position in the Super Elections. That's why President Heaveria decided to nominate Castenor for this position. Castenor aka Aivintis also serves as Minister of Cultural Affairs in The East Pacific. His expertise in the Cultural Department led to his nomination. He was approved by the Legislative Assembly with a majority of 10 votes for him and 1 vote abstaining. President Heaveria further expanded his staff by appointing Sparsdan and Lovecraftian Puppet as his Chief of Staff and Assistant respectively.

Treaty of Veria
The Free Nations Region has signed a treaty with The Democratic Republic named the "The Treaty of Veria". The treaty is based on mutual defense and government cooperation. After negotiations with MoFA Porto Verde and Consul Amacoly of TDR, President Heaveria and MoFA Gufand submitted the treaty to Speaker My Nation for approval of the Legislative Assembly. The Treaty passed with 17 votes for it and 2 votes against it. 1 person abstained from voting. The document of the treaty can be found here.

Foreign Affairs Update
During the last month the Minister of Foreign Affairs has closed embassies with Strawberry Hill, Novo Brasil and Westfallen Westphalia. These were closed due to not meeting the requirements of the embassy policy. A lot of new embassies have been constructed this month. Those are with The South Pacific, The Rejected Realms, Thaecia, Warzone Africa and The Democratic Republic. The goal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to open embassies with all the Game Created Regions that share similar interests with FNR is finally achieved. In addition to that the Free Nations Region has closed their embassies and terminated their treaty with League of Conservative Nations after their loose moderation policy lead to racial slurs on their discord server. After the embassy closure the LCN have made changes in their moderation policy. The Free Nations Region will see how things change in the LCN with the introduction these new rules.

Judicial Reforms
The Free Nations Region is currently going through a Judicial Reform. Lawmakers are working hard and proposing bills to fix the loopholes in our Judicial System. Sargon Reman has played a prominent role in this reform with his Criminal Code Act, Judicial Procedure Act and Attorney General Creation Act. The Criminal Code Act lists all the possible misdemeanors and felonies and the consequences a convict will face for them. The Judicial Procedure Act defines how a court shall proceed during a court case. The Attorney General Creation act forms the position of an Attorney General who would represent the Government in court cases. Attorney Rapid Cty has drafted the "Attorney-Client Privilege Act" that defines how a Attorney and Client would deal with each other while the former is representing a latter in a court case.

FNR Passes Transparency Act

On the 23rd of July 2020, Heaveria , our President, Sargon Reman, our FNR Minister of Defense, and Sargon, our Chief of Staff proposed and signed the Transparency Act, which is to acknowledge that a law is required to regulate and mandate the transparency of government actions within a democracy like FNR, as well as to understand that without these rules the citizens of FNR may lose trust in their government institutions and that unscrupulous or unactive government officials may slide through the system without accountability.

Additionally, an online calendar has been added in order to ensure that the Ministers can update the government dispatches on a regular basis, as well as to keep the citizens up-to-date with the latest happenings within the region.

The Transparency Act can be read in full detail here. The Act was further signed and approved by Heaveria and Sparsdan, our President and our Justice respectively.

Statement on TAR's Embassy Closure

Postby Crystalsummer » Thu Aug 13, 2020 3:58 pm

Official Statement from the Office of the Founder.

Just recently I was approached by Hey its prarie about one of our recent embassy openings The Allied Republic. After discussing with them about TAR possibly being Fascist sympathizers, I went to their discord myself to only discover more inappropriate comments were made on their discord. With that I advised Gufand to close the embassy immediately as TAR was in violation of Executive Order 19-007, and our region does not support Fascism in any degree. We here in FNR will protect our embassy at all costs! Thank you, and we hope TAR will work to correct these deficiencies.

Good work, FNR. I’m glad that another fascist-sympathetic region has been identified and further isolated.

Isn't that the successor region to The Allied States, which I vaguely recall used to have a sloppy reputation back in 2016ish?

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - PLEASE READ

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT - PLEASE READ

It has been brought to the attention of the FNR moderation team that our region's recent acquisition of The Midnight Order (TMO) was not done in a way that reflects the values of our region. Below is a summary of what happened:

During the negotiation process surrounding The Midnight Order, our founder, Crystalsummer, hijacked (changed password of a shared nation) a account they shared with Indo-Malaysia (the other party involved with negotiation). Crystalsummer changed the password to this nation, hence removing Indo-Malaysia's access to it. Crystalsummer used this account to gain an advantage in the TMO negotiation, meaning that FNR's acquisition of The Midnight Order was fraudulent.

As a consequence of Crystalsummer's actions, The Midnight Order no longer belongs to The Free Nations Region. Our Minister of Defense and our Deputy Minister of Defense are currently working to revert our military to the way it was prior to FNR's acquisition of TMO. The hijacked account has not been returned to Indo-Malaysia, but FNR has since made peace with Indo-Malaysia. It is understood that Crystalsummer's actions do not reflect the values of The Free Nations Region, and The Free Nations Region does not endorse what occurred during the TMO negotiation. (announcement continued below)
Crystalsummer has also decided that due to their actions, it would be best if they leave The Free Nations Region and quit NationStates altogether. Crystalsummer has given the password to their nation to our President, Heaveria. From this point onwards, Heaveria will be maintaining the Crystalsummer nation, and they have assumed the responsibility of being the region's new Founder. This will allow us to avoid having to refound our region and potentially expose ourselves to raiders. This decision was made by the entire moderation team of FNR.

We would like to reassure all citizens and residents of The Free Nations Region that nothing in our region is going to change. Yes, Crystalsummer will no longer be present in our region. Yes, our military no longer owns The Midnight Order. But everything else will remain exactly the same as it always has been. We are still the friendly, welcoming, and enjoyable region that we are renowned for being!

Thank you for your understanding.

Sincerely,

Drehtisch / Tigerania

I'm interested in hearing Crystal's side, because some of the things here don't add up. He took over a nation; okay, fine, that's bad. But why was FNR's military so thrown off by losing TMO when they had only gained it today? I understand why Crystal would leave FNR, but why leave NS entirely? & why give up his main?

I get it if you don't have the answers to these questions, they were just my thoughts as I was reading through it.

I would love nothing more for Crystalsummer to never return, but jeez what a clusterfuck for you guys to have dealt with. Quite an unfortunate event to deal with, but it appears you guys made a swift and firm decision, so good for you.

Crystal didn't mentioned that he changed the founder account password of TMO without Indo's consent. He lied to the government of FNR. Whether this was done intentionally or unintentionally. This incident showed FNR in bad light and this agrerment with TMO was looking like a hostile takeover. Crystal even though clarified that this whole thing was a "misunderstanding" decided to take the bullet and resign from his position. He was going to face the consequences anyways. He did the right thing by resigning beforehand. We thank TMO for retracting their statement.
