Elections & More Elections!
Written by Sparsdan

We’ve had elections during the glorious month of April – and not to worry, they definitely weren’t a part of April Fools!
In presidential elections, we’ve seen a very close and heated run with two experienced candidates: Heaveria, the region’s current founder with years long experience from multiple regions, and Doctors Orvos, RP Manager of the region and Minister of Culture at the time. The incumbent, My Nation, was not running again.
In the end, Heaveria with his VP Tyulenistan prevailed by only 2 votes and defeated Orvos and his VP Sparsdan (a great guy btw) in the spectacular race.
Along with the Presidential elections, Speaker elections were ongoing and the incumbent Gufand won by a safe margin, grabbing 52,4 % of all the votes against People of Nolan’s 33,4 % (14,3 % went to Abstain).
The minister elections are still ongoing in part, but from what our reporters in the field know right now, the Minister of Internal Affairs is Waste Land Zero, Minister of Defence is The Python II., Minister of Regional Administration is Amorosa-Coonarra Coasts, Minister of Immigration is My Nation and Minister of Culture is Obets, elected in a heated run of 3 contestants.
Minister of Foreign Affairs election is still ongoing in May in the form of special elections, as the candidate was defeated by Abstain.

Best Citizen in NS!
well... second! By Heaveria

A FNR citizen reached second place in NationStates April Fools Prank! Yes, that's right. Amorosa-Coonarra Coasts, our Minister of Regional Affairs, is officially the second best nation!

During this April Fools Event, everyone could rank a nation. The final score leader board can be seen right here: https://www.nationstates.net/page=bestn ... derboard=1

Force | Embassy Shutdown

Image

Statement by President Heaveria

As staunch believers in democracy (its inherent inalienable pursuit of happiness) and defending, we must condemn Force’s recent actions and unfortunately shutdown embassies for an indefinite time. Embassies may be evaluated again at a later time if proper rehabilitation can be proven.

We believe Force’s approach and actions in TSSU were unacceptable and even more so the public display following it. The matter regarding TSSU is serious, and the foreign affairs response and personal behavior by Force or its representative members were far from adequate. Concerning as well is the inappropriate behavior towards other NationStates players.

While we appreciate the apologies we have received from members representing Force, we firmly believe that it's in the best of our interests to distance ourselves at this time. The distance shall serve as a signal for rehabilitation, positive change, and the opening to constructive criticism. If enough time has passed and Force exhibits long-term results of its changes, we will consider reopening embassies at that time, warranted we feel comfortable doing so.

Signed on June 02, 2021,
Heaveria

One of these things is not like the others. Both the Founder and Deputy Prime Minister of Force are leadership offices empowered to speak for Force.

This is correct. Guardians are not part of the TWP Cabinet nor empowered to speak on behalf of the region, but are in place to protect the region. BBD is my WA advisor about SC proposals as well, which is not a formal position.

Gotcha. Thanks for the explanation. The Guardian System wasn't there back when I was pretty active in NSGP.

New Flag of the Free Nations Region

The Free Nations Region's New Regional Flag.

The Regional Flag Redesigning Contest ended with Agalaesia (aka Polly the Penguin) winning with 52.94% votes (18 votes) in the second round. The competition commenced with seven submissions competing in the first round from them the flags of Doctors Orvos and Agalaesia qualified for the second round which was done in the form of a referendum voting that happened in the legislative assembly. Doctors Orvos' flag received 35.29% votes (12 votes) while 11.76% (4 voters) voters chose to abstain. This is the first time since 2017 when the Free Nations Region changed their regional flag. Our President Heaveria made a statement in the discord server about the new flag saying that:-
Today serves as a beacon. A beacon of progress. A beacon to exemplify the culmination of those have have dedicated to part of FNR's more than 5 year long history.
Despite what may have held us back and kept the floor heavy, we've been able to adapt and learn. We have shook off our heavy weights and have been on an upwards curve towards what we have always expected this community to epitomize.

We value acceptance and the ability to be yourself. We value open-dialogue and safety. Sure, we have made our fair share of mistakes, miscalculations, and missteps. But ultimately, we have been able to prove that the desire to hold our community together prevails beyond any mistake.

I'm proud to present to you the new flag of the Free Nations Region. Agalaesia is the designer and author of this flag! Through our inviolable democracy, we have chosen Aga's flag in our first-ever referendum from a total of 7 submissions.

Freedom prevails!

- President Heav

Jobs & Oppertunities
written by Heaveria

The current administration has published a new dispatch and program to encourage government (gameplay) activity and increase the retention rates for new nations by making it as simple as possible to all the opportunities available in FNR from government to roleplay.

Importantly, the dispatch serves as a central point for all job listings and how to obtain them!
The dispatch can be found here:
---> https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1556588.

The following features are expected to come soon to give the program more foundation:
  • Centralized Application - Allow fair and fast processing of applications, paving the way for people to join government!
  • Dedicated Discord channel for job listings
  • Legislation to enforce the jobs and opportunities program - Ensure everything is up-to-date during future government administrations and provides a general guideline.

Start of Napoleonic RP
written by Orvos, edited by Heaveria

The main RP has grown to a total of approx. 40-50 players -- being a big aide in jumpstarting secondary RP ideas.

With that, a new secondary RP has *rocket noises* launched *rocket noises* that, unlike the main which is based on a modern-day timeline, is set in the equivalent of RL French Revolution/Napoleonic Era (1792-1915). Only the technology used at the time may be used and the players can claim all the land they historically had at the time. We are still at the start of the Napoleonic RP/Regnum Historia but it is very promising for now, having already 14 nations at the start. It's quite active and an interesting storyline is developing in the lands of Linkers Sha and there's a surrounding power struggle between 3 colonial empires (Orvos, Russia and Eschenwelt), The Kingdom of Linkers Sha and the Republic of Linker Sha.

For this secondary RP I'm being helped by Sarayevka/Kondraty Ryleev (Sarayevka), who knows a lot about the RL historical era and is greatly useful.

Regional Meme Contest
written by Obets

On June 11 last month the Ministry of Culture decided to start up a Regional Meme Contest as one of the contests promised in the FNR. On the 11th the submissions period for the contest began and it would last until June 19th. We saw submissions from Pahlavishan, Gullyslanarmaing, Alicetopia, Kissassia, and Pharelijs. The voting period began for the contest on June 21, and after 4 days of voting Pahlavishan's meme won with 4 votes. Here is the dispatch with all submissions for the meme contest, in case you are interested:

Regional Dispatch Contest
written by Obets

Before the Meme Contest, on May 19 the Culture Ministry decided to set up a Regional Dispatch
Contest as another one of the contests promised to the FNR. The submissions period began on the 19th, and, after some delay due to not enough submissions, ended on May 30th. We saw submissions from Valentine Z, Doctors Orvos, and Soap Tips. The voting period began for the contest on May 31, and lasted until June 4 when, just barely, Doctors Orvos's overview dispatch won with 7 votes. The dispatch with submissions is here, for those interested:

Gartic Phone (Games)
written by Sparsdan

It's been a hell of a month in FNR, as always. We love our games and June was no exception. We particularly fell in love with the Gartic phone, making fun of each other in a friendly, relaxed manner. Laughing together on voice chat makes everything better! Next time, come join us. We’ll gladly welcome you to our community and you’ll see what makes us so great.

Revamping of the Entire Dispatch System
written by Heaveria

The new Minister of Internal Affairs, Thaelle has taken on the major task of completely reorganizing FNR’s dispatches which amassed to approximately 80! A goal also under the current presidency.

Where possible, dispatches will be merged and centralized. In addition, everything will be fully updated. The complete revamping is nearly finished and we applaud Thaelle for his dedicated work and minimalistic designs.

The minister has updated the headers and added a neat navigation pane to all dispatches:

These changes should make navigating our dispatches much simpler and enjoyable while still being able to find all the content you’re looking for. The entry point for all information is our Master Dispatch: https://www.nationstates.net/page=dispatch/id=1152012.

Foreign Affairs Reorginization
written by Sparsdan

One of the biggest changes we started in June was the Foreign Affairs reorganization. Sparsdan, the current Minister of Foreign Affairs and generally just a really cool guy (who, incidentally, is writing this part of the foreign update), began a long-anticipated revamp of FNR foreign politics.

The need was, to be sure, dire. Ambassadors are like confused chickens without proper oversight, and that is something FNR will take great care to make sure never happens. Stay tuned to more changes - many more are coming soon.

The bottom half of the words "Freedom Prevails" are cut off on my screen, by the way :P

The Free Nations Herald wrote:The Association of Attorneys can only consist of maximum four attorneys.

I could go on for hours about how damaging license caps such as these can be on access to professional expertise. For now, however, I ask only this of Dongerland (or whoever created the AA in the first place): Why?
